Thus spoke CSDb: The winner is Stainless Steel! Congrats! \o/

User Comment
Submitted by hedning on 23 September 2011
Thats sad. :( But he could always make the tune anyway, couldn't he?! He could release it "outside compo". :)

User Comment
Submitted by Stainless Steel on 23 September 2011
I posted my entry on the c64/amiga group on Facebook. Dalezy noticed it and wanted to make a tune too, but its too late :-( he had not known about the compo before.

Too bad, really.

Ok now it's gone. Had to do the procedure 4 times until csdb got it.

User Comment
Submitted by Slator on 19 September 2011
well maybe give all entries the same vote then?

User Comment
Submitted by Stainless Steel on 19 September 2011
Done. Still shows up though.

User Comment
Submitted by Linus on 19 September 2011
Huh? Userpage/View your vote history -> select entry and hit "delete", no? =)

User Comment
Submitted by Stainless Steel on 19 September 2011
Well, i changed it to a 5 then.

User Comment
Submitted by CreaMD on 19 September 2011
Stainless, it's not possible. You have to live with that.

User Comment
Submitted by Stainless Steel on 19 September 2011
In that case, could one of the moderators here remove my 10 vote on my entry. Thanks.

User Comment
Submitted by hedning on 19 September 2011
Ok! Here we go. Three tunes, and I will let the csdb voting count this time (for once). ;)

I'll give it a week, but I guess the result won't change much.

Thank you Stainless, Mahoney and Inge.

The last dudes in for this compo should be reminded: 2 days to go!

I have a half-finished tune, the question now is whether I have the time...

User Comment
Submitted by hedning on 14 September 2011
Inge: C'mon. Finish it - I would love to hear your tune.

User Comment
Submitted by Inge on 13 September 2011
Hm... My unfinished tune sounds boring compared to Stainless' so why bother? ;-)

User Comment
Submitted by Stainless Steel on 13 September 2011
Oh my dear Linus. I wasn't aware that you're also a comedian :-D

User Comment
Submitted by Linus on 13 September 2011
But, but ... this way you´re most definitely going to win the compo :)

User Comment
Submitted by Stainless Steel on 12 September 2011
Come on guys dont let me be the only one :-D

User Comment
Submitted by hedning on 11 September 2011
There we go! Stainless is the first man on the dancefloor (except Rambo). \o/

User Comment
Submitted by hedning on 8 September 2011
Great! I hope more will dare enter the combat of Rambo when the first tune is released. :)

User Comment
Submitted by Stainless Steel on 8 September 2011
No worries. I've restored my tune and am pretty much done. Runtime is 2:11 minutes.

I might add some more bars or release it as it is now. Just need to let it rest for a while and relisten with a set of fresh ears in a couple of days to make sure its good.

User Comment
Submitted by hedning on 8 September 2011
New deadline: 18 September 2011. C'mon sidders!

User Comment
Submitted by hedning on 7 September 2011
If there is no hero answering Rambo's call for SID tonight, I will add another week to the deadline.

I know there are people out there that plan to compete, so finish the tunes and add them. I have big plans for a compilation. ;)

Rambo rap coming up?

User Comment
Submitted by Stainless Steel on 5 September 2011
It's not that, i was just hoping for some "Guess the composer" game.

User Comment
Submitted by hedning on 5 September 2011
Anonymous? Hell no. Just release your tune, and the rest will follow. It's always scary to be first, I guess. ;)

User Comment
Submitted by Stainless Steel on 5 September 2011
I was just wondering, is this going to be an anonymous compo ?

User Comment
Submitted by Stainless Steel on 2 September 2011
Dont believe the hype. I'm american and rambo didnt save me or my shit :-D

Usually i save a thousand times per hour and get a huge number of work-stages for each tune. Some with little differences or none at all. Not sure if i had saved it already ? Save it again just to be sure.

Not this time though. It was supposed to be a quickie :-D

User Comment
Submitted by Slator on 2 September 2011
I am not so sure, if I agree on rambo and the system behind it are the good ones :-D anyway, hope there will be some bullet-lurking tunes

User Comment
Submitted by hedning on 2 September 2011
Pex: No. He saves the good guys. From the bad guys. :P

User Comment
Submitted by Pex Mahoney Tufvesson on 2 September 2011
Rambo always saves. But only americans. Do we have to use NTSC in this compo? ;)

User Comment
Submitted by hedning on 2 September 2011
9 days to go. I know that at least three are composing. We'll see what happens next.

Stainless: Go for it. Find the strength, like Rambo would do.

User Comment
Submitted by CreaMD on 2 September 2011
NOT ... SAVING ... FOR ... TWO ... DAYS. Anyway I recall saving all the time and losing 90% of the tune due to skipped (empty) sector in DMC5.0 (it only saves until it finds first empty sector) That was quite tragic. I have recreated the tune from memory in about 2-3 hours next day, but it felt somehow different and less rich. Btw. after listening to whole Rambo F.B.P.II soundtrack I found the rambo theme quite interesting although very slow on my brain.. still it's quite interesting that I'm humming the crucial phart of the tune silently in my brain for few days.. must be a good tune then I think.

User Comment
Submitted by Stainless Steel on 2 September 2011
Due to a vice crash in combination with me not saving for two days, i might not be able to make it.

Maybe i can motivate myself to redo the tune this weekend.

User Comment
Submitted by hedning on 1 September 2011
Stainless: Looking (listening?) forward to it! :)

User Comment
Submitted by Stainless Steel on 1 September 2011
I'm already halfway done with my tune :-D

User Comment
Submitted by DRAX on 30 August 2011
@STE'86: yeah, you actually kinda got that idea ;) ... and thanks again for directing my attention to that tune... it is a really good composition... Great idea with this compo - I just wish I had more time...

Crap in a Rambo compo? You must be kidding, grumpy old man! ;)

User Comment
Submitted by Soren on 30 August 2011
Well, "different" can be ok too... As long as it's good stuff. Just hoping there won't be too much crap then.
"Different for the sake of it" is not always a good idea to me. :-)

User Comment
Submitted by hedning on 30 August 2011
Stainless: word.

User Comment
Submitted by Stainless Steel on 29 August 2011
Why does everything have to be made "better" ? whats wrong with just doing it "different" ?
After all, no one is better at doing the galway than martin himself.

@Jeff et al again.
http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=101638&show=trivia#trivia

the first post points to a youtube vid of "it's a long road" this is THE John Rambo theme from all the films, its the first piece you hear in First Blood and the piece you hear in the last "homecoming" scene of Rambo 4.

it also has the note that it is the only piece from the second film which Galway did NOT include in his version.

so indeed you don't have to be better than Galway to do something which he didnt do.

User Comment
Submitted by booker on 29 August 2011
@Jeff: who's talking about making Galway's tune better? We can break it instead :->

User Comment
Submitted by hedning on 29 August 2011
Jeff: The original tunes are awesome, I agree, but you could always honour Galway by doing different covers, and remixes. If people like this idea I bet we will hear some sweet sidding featuring the melodies from the past.

User Comment
Submitted by Soren on 29 August 2011
The rambo soundtrack can't be done better, if you ask me... I'd rather see a Rambo GAME competition. :-) AND SEUCK not allowed, please! ;-)

Thanks, dude. And for anyone thinking I am joking with this compo: No. I am serious.

User Comment
Submitted by CreaMD on 28 August 2011
You hereby receive my blessing. (but I don't take any responsibility for anything, it's you organising it) I would just like to add, that why restricting it to the SID. I think any music that is from Rambo First Blood - Part II should be valid as an inspiration. (Now let's check the web for to hear if there is anything worthy to make a remix from...) ;)

Idea and concept: The days of Rambopic flooding is over, but I still think it was too silent. We can't be finished with Rambo like this, can we? ;) The Rambo tunes by Martin Galway, the slowpaced and nice title song for Rambo First Blood part II, or even better (?) for the modern ravegurus and fastpaced sidders: the more action filled in game music, are as iconic as the title pic. How many times haven't you heard it? I think it's still frikkin awesome. Make a cover. Honour Galway, and have fun on the way. :D

In HVSC: /MUSICIANS/G/Galway_Martin/Rambo_First_Blood_Part_II.sid (Title music is number 1, in game music no. 10).

This compo is inspired by Rambo Revisited - GFX Compo (13-17 August 2011). And to steal a lot of words from CreaMD:

Rules: Original _tunes_ used in Rambo First Blood - Part II is your inspiration and reference. You go anywhere from that. And I’m just as sure as CreaMD that you can come up with your own ideas. Anything goes.

SID:s should be executable C64 .PRG files. Use samples if you want. The executables will be released on fly (as they are submitted). Voting will be perfomed online while the compo lasts (and about week-two after the deadline).

Sumbit your tunes to: hedning64@gmail.com or/and add them directly to CSDB and this compo page.

I will also try to push them together in a Rambo music jukebox if possible. :P
