North Party V4.0
Party Report

Greetings!
Your Polish pal Cactus is there... At last I got back home! North Party
v4.0 is finished. It was really great C64 scene party, I suppose the
best I have visited. Here is short report and my opinion about the
party... I hope you won't be bored?

On 29.07.99 I left Jaworzno by bus and went to Sosnowiec. I met
Ramos/Samar there... We both got into the train and after 12 hours of
travelling we were in Olsztyn at 7 am. At the station we met
Browar/Arise and Wacek/Arise/Smash... They went to eat something and we
got into the bus to Bartoszyce. We drived with another met scene
friends: Yaro/Arise/Exon/Role/Voodoo and Klax/Axelerate/Oxygen/Voodoo.
After two hours we reached Bartoszyce and quickly found party place.
There have already been some sceners, so we could talk we them. I was
very tired of the trip, but I stayed on foot.

On the big screen organizers were showing old good demos by Camelot,
Smash, Reflex, Samar and other great C64 scene groups. The next sceners
were still arriving in the Bartoszyce. In the noon we met the first
foreign visitors, which were Commander/Role and Icegirl/Role. Then I
decided to go to bed. I took my sleeping-bag out and turned in. When I
woke up there was many more sceners at the party place and three new
foreigners. From Germany arrived to us Ninja/The Dreams, Zaphod/The
Dreams and Faayd/Satovia/Voodoo. On first day there was some cool crazy
compos, e.g. "running for vodka" or "tug of war". I went to bed early as
I was still very tired of the trip.

I woke up at 7 am. On Saturday arrived some new sceners. But the most
important event of this day (not night!) was soccer tournament called
"Kick Off II". At 12 am we went to the Bartoszyce stadium and played.
There were four teams: Spice Arise, Hot Dicks, FC Fraction and AC Samar.
I have been the captain and main organizer of this team. In the first
game we played with main favourite of the tournament Spice Arise. Our
status was following: Jam, Commander, Eljot, Yaro, Faayd and me... It
was hard to communicate with foreign players, but I'm sure it was our
best match in this tournament! First scored Arise. But in the second
half I shot the goal on 1:1. We hoped to draw this game, but in the last
seconds of the match Elban/Arise scored. We were so disappointment that
we couldn't turn up and we lost with FC Fraction 0:1. But I was sure
that we could win that match easily! In the last game we won with Hot
Dicks 3:2 and I scored again (with big help from Yaro and Jam). From the
second match Eljot was injured so we got another player Firebee. There
was also one change on the goalkeeper position, which has been taken by
Commander. After all we took the third place, but I hope we will win the
next tournament at North Party v5.0 ;)

In the evening started competitions. The first was music compo. We could
vote for only 21 zax after selection. Everybody said that the best was
music by Daf/Samar. In opinion of most C64 sceners, he's the best
musician in Poland! His music kicked asses again. But the results of
this compo surprised all visitors. Why first place was taken by GRG no
one knew! While listening to his music there was no applause, no
delighting and so on... But while listening to Daf's music everybody was
shocked. His tune was really the best one! And now, take a look at
results. GRG is first, Daf is fifth... This is only one example, but the
best! I can feel free to say that RESULTS OF THIS COMPO WAS CHEATED!!!
It's very bad, cause Daf is great musician and he deserved on first
place hundred times more than GRG, don't you think? Another proof that
music compo results has been cheated is that: organizers didn't tell how
much points got each tunes! So I would better fuck it and tell that the
money should go to someone other, but not GRG!

In the graphic compo great picture by Scarab hasn't got place even in
the first five! And I'm sure that it was better than some other
pictures! Everybody was waiting for demo compo, when we had
Reflextracker compo. It was so terrible that most visitors didn't want
to hear it and left the party place for a while. Me too... In the demo
compo we had seven entries. First was demo by Axelerate (if you still
didn't get it just tell me and I'll send it to you!). Then demo by Role
(I liked it very much). Next was last demo by Fraction, but it crashed
for two times before good running. The demo by Elysium had really ass
kicking graphics by Valsary, but without good code effects. Elysium
staff promises to release "Altered States 100%" very soon, so we hope
this demo will be much better! Demo by The Dreams was very average, so I
can't understand why it was higher than Fraction's demo. I suppose that
Poles wanted to to suck up to German visitors! The demo by Arise had a
very good code, but no good graphics. The best was effect coded by Gold
Hand... Bumbs on vector was probably worldfirst! Unfortunately it was
only preview, so you'll see full version in the future... The last demo
by Lepsi De also was nice, but quickly crashed, so I don't know why
people voted for it?

Many sceners were drinking a lot of vodka at the party... Also some
other alcohol... Germans: Ninja and Zaphod humiliated and compromited
themselves by drinking so much alcohol! Only one guy was okay - Faayd.

At the party I joined Samar as my third group. Also Scarab has joined
Samar as his third group.

I decided to leave party on Sunday at 5 am. I traveled with Ramos/Samar,
Sage/Elysium, Pasthor/Skylight, Volcano/Exon and Habib/Exon. The trip
was horrible. We had more than five change of trains in: Bartoszyce,
Korsze, Olsztyn, Warsaw, Lodz, Czestochowa, Katowice... After 22 hours
of terrible travelling I got back home. I was in Jaworzno on 2.08.99 at
3 am.

The party was really good. I am happy that I could meet many my friends
from C64 scene... Please, let's keep C64 alive forever! At the moment
North Party is the only one scene party for C64 users only! It's also
probably the best party ever, so don't miss the next meeting in
Bartoszyce in future! I'll be there for sure!

About this site:
CSDb (Commodore 64 Scene Database) is a website which goal is to gather as much information and material about the scene around the commodore 64 computer - the worlds most popular home computer throughout time. Here you can find almost anything which was ever made for the commodore 64, and more is being added every day. As this website is scene related, you can mostly find demos, music and graphics made by the people who made the scene (the sceners), but you can also find a lot of the old classic games here. Try out the search box in the top right corner, or check out the CSDb main page for the latest additions.
