Event id #2378 : Arok Party 2015

Hello All!

I'm sure a lot of you saw our invitation and some even marked the 15th August weekend as red days. But back then our party web page was empty, so for sure no one remembers what's coming in two weeks.

The page was updated meanwhile of course: http://arok.intro.hu

Most of the information like the schedule is nicely hidden on cartridges ;) And there's something more on FB so I'm told.

But why there's no bigger fuss about Arok here on CSDB? Well there are several reasons for this.

The biggest is probably that I'm caring the most about what happens here, unless Leon releases yet another masterpiece. And I don't care as much as I should ;(

The other is that the likely audience was already reached out for by other means, usually by localized media efforts.

It's not like we want to exclude anyone, that was not the intention. To counter that I wrote this piece to not keep everyone in the dark any further.

For most active folks at CSDB our place in Hungary is far, and is believed to be hard to navigate to. Well I could even say that for X despite it's somewhat closer I've never went there. But then that's not fair to compare as I'm not part of the organizer group there ;)

Still if anyone plans to come and not sure how to do that we can help! Using a GPS map with a car is probably not rocket science (N47 08.316 E17 34.344). But local transport might be more tricky. If you reach the city of Ajka, that's close enough to be picked up by one of us to the party place.

On the more realistic side we accept remote entries, for them there's no need to travel. But mind that we won't ship any prices won, so in this case only the fame is gained. Entries can be emailed to "arok" at "c64.rulez.org", the sooner the better.

We'll have the regular music, graphics and demo categories of course. Due to the nature of party there might be other 8 bits platforms in the competitions, for example last year a Plus4 demo won. So try to polish releases a bit and show our capabilities.

Based on previous years releases I think I can safely say that our party is not yet flooded with releases of "big names". So there's a good chance that your "pretty good" production won't end up at place 9 or worse and now it could compete right on top ;)

We can show more exotic stuff too in the wild category. Bringing the hardware needed is preferred (e.g. there was a laser beamer last year). We'll have some common expansions, but it's better to ask for availability.

For musicians with unreleased remixes there's a streaming music compo. This is played with an MP3@64 so it's preferred to limit the compo version to 256Kbit. Sure the C64 could go up to 320Kbit, but let's just be on the safe side.

Most important for sofa sceners is that we'll have live streams this year too. So it'll be possible to see the competitions and seminars from home. And there will be some interesting ones to listen to, even if not strictly C64 specific.

As for how much of the concerts or outside events will be covered there are no promises. We'll have even better equipment this year (and I thought last year was an overkill already) and less software bugs, so let's hope. Still there won't be much coverage of the beer tents, and that's better so ;)

So, I'm looking forward to see some of you or your works at our party in two weeks. And if not, then maybe next year ;)
