Release id #152320 : The Bear Essentials +2DP&Map

In my opinion this release should be tagged First Release / Broken because the published original is fully working PAL+NTSC and this one is not. So this is either based on a different original or it is a cracking bug.
It is just how I would judge it.

different question: why are those cracks not public available? commercial release, yeah. but the authors already uploaded the game on csdb, so it doesn't make much sense to me...

I didn't request this, but I'm grateful that it was requested.
I would say it is respectful to give the game some time to get into peoples hands before somebody else's name is plastered onto the front of it.
Also to let people see it the way it was intended by the author, if only for a day or so.

Agree with Didi, their first version was bugged. The 2nd version from Onslaught is the first release not bugging. The 3rd release by GP is a proper only to tidy up their previous.

Great game!

We have been busy celebrating xmas. Answer to the first question: now it's tagged accordingly. The ntsc check was bugged. And we fixed that quick. Not a big thing. At least there were some proper work done and just not a introlink.

Regarding the availability, we respect the request from Pond. I think it's fully reasonable to let the authors spread their version for a day or two. If you really need the crack, get to the boards, or ask us.

Now: Merry xmas, boys and girls!

Merry Xmas everybody.

Now lets set a few things straight....you really should recognise an "introlink" GP have done enough of them in the past (as we have). But this wasn't "just" an introlink as the game was originally in two parts with an ascii loading screen with no docs, its now a single part with docs included in the single part.

Besides which we had access to the game for an hour at 1am ( I waited an hour first ) and we managed to make a non-NTSC-bugging with included docs in a single part "so-called-introlink", GP didn't even manage to do that when you'd had access to the game for a lot longer. Then after you claim "to have uploaded the wrong version", really? If that's the case you should lay off the egg nog...

The fact is that GP should have made the crack entry on csdb soon after the official release - its what we do so that not to waste other groups time when we have early access to a game.

On the matter of "The developers have asked to keep any crack off the public for some days. This release is available at the usual places. Will be uploaded publically soon."
We weren't asked by the developers, I've been asked before not to do cracks of certain games by the developers and I'm more than willing to follow their wishes.
But this wasn't the case here, it seems either you or Mermaid is more than happy to delete our download links as soon as we post them.
Is this is setting a precedent for csdb, or is this just a new rule for games that GP members are involved in?

Surely all great new free games like this also deserve this brilliant new csdb feature.....

I couldn't care less about your stupid "cracking" drama bullshit, but:

From what I was told, the Onslaught version didn't have the download attached either at first, then someone added it.

When they did, I asked Jazzcat on Facebook if Onslaught could please wait a day or two, which he agreed to. After that, someone still kept trying to upload the file, I don't know who that was, but I assume it wasn't someone from Onslaught, since you had agreed to wait.

It's only a drama because of this new situation of a freely available game being ruled as off-limits for a crack by csdb. Is this going to be the new norm then?

I also believe you've got the facts wrong.

Jazzcat made the entry originally and someone deleted the download. It was nobody from Onslaught....it was either Hedning or an admin other than Jazzcat.

Jazzcat uploaded it again

It got deleted again.

Jazzcat made me a mod of the crack so I could upload it if it got deleted.

I uploaded the file again

It got deleted again.

I uploaded it again

It got deleted again

I couldn't upload it again, because you'd locked me of updating the record. And during this time you asked Jazzcat for his agreement to something that was already being implemented.

True. By the time I left facebook and came to csdb after a chat with Vanja, the file was already not present again :(

When I asked Jazzcat "Could you please wait a day or two with uploading the file for your crack of The Bear Essentials to CSDb?" he responded "Ok did that initially" which I took to mean that he didn't upload the file at first, and just created the entry without a file. If I have my facts wrong, it's because I believed what Jazzcat said.

I guess the question is why was someone removing the dl other than myself and Pugsy. I have seen the csdb rules go one way but now they bend another

No he does not. As i added the file again after a short period. Then someone removed it and pugsy as an admin to the entry.

Jazzcat used the same sentance we had when he created the ons entry. When someone uploaded the file, I joined in and "deleted" the file. As this is a database noone "owns" an entry, so I thought I did a good thing, following the previously added notion. Then the circus started.

I see no problem helping the developers spread their stuff a while before the public dl-link of crack releases get out - as long they ask for it. It's not like the file itself disappears - it is just not shown, so the completeness of the database is not threatened. And the releases are always available somewhere else.

Here's a thought guys. In the spirit of Christmas, why not just bloody grow up and stop being your usual awkward and self-centred selves.

The cracking scene mentality is a joke. If someone requests you lay off for a bit, is it so hard to respect these wishes?

Hedning. I think it is fair to let me manage the entry. I could not even remove the file after chatting with Vanja.

And Merry Christmas to you too Roysterini

Here's a thought Roysterini, when mentioning the spirit of christmas I find it's best not call people childish, awkward and self-centred....which sadly is probably closer to what christmas turns out to be about.

And hell yes, the cracking scene mentality is a joke - and you are just finding this out now?

If you'd read this thread fully you'd see I'd said if the programmer asks me not to crack their game then I won't. You will also see the post from Toki - the developer of this game they didn't ask to lay off the a bit, though they thought it was a good idea. So the fact is they hadn't asked for it....

I think the best solution would be if those few who are still interested in the "cracking" scene could come to an agreement to stop this silliness of "cracking" freely available games, or at least stop awarding those strange cracker-points for them. Problem solved.

Trainers are still an actually valuable addition, even to freely available games. Without points there might be less motivation. And the drama is entertaining :)
