Release id #161410 : Sam's Journey +9D [easyflash]

Got the files, I presume they new upacking with 7zip??

Tried that and got a file but no emulator loads it even with a crt added..

Normally I'd never ask but befuddled by this, its not the end of the world as I own the digital release, just fancied trying an all in one for a go..

Its OK guys, it wasn't really a question I wanted to ask considering the content, as said I paid for the digital download but just wanted to see how it performed as an emulated cart.

The files were from the 'usual' places and were sam.01. 02 and 03.

I found easysplit from an earlier search but after a quick play I needed to join and could not see an option for that..

As said, I can play the game and its one of those games where I actually parted with cash for so if its taboo then I understand and leave it there.

It's correct, EasySplit 1.0.0 was used. Check the posts on 'usual places' for that :-)

hi Mclane,

As confirmed by Stormfront, Easysplit was used.

To keep everyone happy :) I normally would not support a bbs question here, but since EasyFlash is new to a lot of us ( I had to consult others too before uploading ) sure, why not this one :)

Easysplit has been used to make sure file sizes for the boards does not exceed 1541 size. This to make sure it is a catch all and keeping in mind many people still like to use their real hardware rather than virtual.

As a small added bonus, splitting it into multiple files if an upload crashes, it's only one of 3 files I need to re-upload ;)

Some people have asked us to upload the CRT aswell without splitting it.. We might have considered, as some (not all) boards permit this file size wise.. but since the title is a current release that's deliberately not done this time.

Hope that clears things up?

Why not consider zip:
zip -h2 states:
Splits (archives created as a set of split files):
-s ssize create split archive with splits of size ssize, where ssize nm
              n number and m multiplier (kmgt, default m), 100k -> 100 kB
-sp pause after each split closed to allow changing disks
WARNING: Archives created with -sp use data descriptors and should
work with most unzips but may not work with some
  -sb ring bell when pause
-sv be verbose about creating splits
Split archives CANNOT be updated, but see --out and Copy Mode below

Because the format used was the one allowed by a sysop, and I wanted to keep the upload run to 5 boards identical.

As an added bonus on current titles it makes it even harder to get a crt (would mean compiling and extracting) so it's another hurdle in favor of devs and thus likely the method we will use on future releases too. (non current will obviously go to csdb without deleting, so then it's a non-issue)

That said.. it's not all hugs and kisses to devs.. if current "default" devices such as sd2iec or EasyFlash are not fully supported when published.. don't be surprised if someone fills that void.
