Delete Vote bug...
<Post edited by moderator on 23/8-2012 14:47>
I try to delete a vote, and I get this message:
Warning: <text removed> in (php file) on line (X).
... doesn't do the action either. |

Perff is crazy. Why would he want to add more Slashes to the site. Even one is way too much.

Fixed. Removed some of error-text text in the original post for security reasons. ;) |

I remember someone making fun of me when i warned about disabling warning and/or error messages at the production server.
http://noname.c64.org/csdb/forums/?roomid=8&topicid=91923#92026
I insinst on this subject. Messages can still be logged to a file at the server side but should not be shown to the users. |

Afair i actually do disable errors etc. but it's done by software, as I would like errors etc. displayed.
So there are some lines of PHP which would be displayed if there are errors in those. This case was one of those few lines.

My advice is to show a dummy error message to the user like:
2012-08-23 16:31:28 - Error occured while deleting a vote. Please contact to site admin.
And log the real detailed error message with paths, db user account names etc. to a file or whereever not accessible by the user.
I'm not saying it's a fun to do task but since you are concerned about users sharing arguably dangerous warning/error messages on the forum, that would be the clean solution. |
