profession: full-screen graphician vs graphician

Regarding profession Full-Screen Graphician vs Graphician ...

Did we ever establish if there IS a graphician who ONLY draws full-screen graphics? :D

Imo it is an unnecessary distinction.

And what about the FLI bug area? Is MCM 136x200 still full-screen?

LOL

what everyone says. Hope Veto has not spilled his coffee or exploded right away and ragequitted scene when reading Bitbreaker's posting :D

GFXian should be enough.

Otherwise we might also consider

Remember that besides the already mentioned "Fullscreen Graphician" and "Graphician", we also have "BBS Graphician" and "Logo Graphician". :o
One category for graphicians should definitely be enough.

I don't see point in having different kinds of graphicians, either. I guess there's some historical reason for the different roles?

historical reason, indeed, might be from time when someone still gave a damn about voting, so you could say Mr X is a 10 as a logo gfxian but an 11 as a fullscreen gfxian...

While we're at insufficient categories, "Logo Graphician" and "Fullscreen graphician" should be eradicated. Or, if we're following the same logic, then add "ASCII graphician" to the mix as well.

also add fullscreen and sideborder coder.

btw back then there were guys doing either logo or koala so it makes sense, it was added for a reason.

Krill
It was stupid then and it's stupid now. If you're doing that then yeah, could just as well make a distinction between BASIC coder vs raster coder vs vector coder etc. =)

Doesn't really make sense to me. People were specialized in either doing logo or koala those days? So there were people who would exclusively paint only logos or solely fullscreeners? Or were they simply graphicians, who were sometimes doing logo and sometimes koala?

Well, I have a couple of fullscreen logos myself. Should I list myself as a logo-, or a fullscreen-graphician?

Wait, we should add a fullscreen-logo-graphician category too, so I could add it as my Freelance function. What's a Freelance function anyway? I'm currently in a contract with Booze Design, which is forbidding me to do any freelance work. I'd need a Contractor functions box too!

Can I suggest some more function categories so I could add those as well to my profile page?

Nah, better merge all categories, I'm not in the fullscreen list at all.

Also, JSL at #8 in the logo graphician list is a bit disturbing :)

Mega-swapper is probably the most ridiculous category. But I love it, since it's very C64 scene'ish.

Btw, how about graphicians (another scene word) who do pictures bigger than one screen? Suggestion: Mega-graphician.

Btw2, I welcome more categories for coders. That way it's easier to get in the top of at least one category.

Something just struct my eye. I just saw the "moderation rules" thread (started by Oswald) being closed for no obvious reason (Ok, Steppe said - "close thread?" or something). I disagree in such an approach to moderation. The moderator should not close a thread unless it's going really bad, and warnings have been issued; furthermore I think moderators who personally participate in a discussion should be rendered powerless over moderating that particular discussion. Furthermore, when closing a thread, I think a reason for doing so should be given..

/laxity

(reason is unreasonable topic's purpose is discussion not moderator idea collecting)

Haha. Very nice. PErhaps that is an idea for another forum/site? :D You could build a whole game around that.

Regarding locking threads, some of them are locked to prevent more spam etc, like they were today. Some of these "lockings" were unneccessary, and have been unlocked again.

It's no easy task to always do the right thing, especially when you have to act fast, like when people (it has happened before) massdelete entries or mass-spam threads just to prove a point or to spam.

We also need categories for:-

Programmer Art (where a coder had to make his own art because the graphicians were all busy/lazy)

Programmer Music (where a coder thinks that melodic mathematical music sounds nice)

Musician Art (where a musician assumes that being good at one means that the must be good at all)

Artist Code (where an artist learns how to do raster bars and assumes they should release a demo)

Etc...
