C64 Cartridge Demos

I was just wondering, are there any C64 demos made for/on Cartridge?
And if not, why not? Is it because of the 16kb that can be accessed at a time or am i missing something?

The main reason, presumably, is that nobody would have spread a cartridge demo. Copying disks is easier.

One technical downside is that you can't access the vectors at fffa-ffff while the cart is mapped into memory. You have to make the kernal call your code via 314/315, and this costs many valuable cycles.

then again, if you'd use ultimax mode... some interesting things could be done that wouldnt be possible without a cartridge :)

Because vanilla C-64 or GTFO. :D

I mean a cartridge (= EasyFlash, realistically) gives you a lot more resources to play with, bank-switched ROM and whatnot. Some minor drawbacks don't matter much there.

Spreading isn't much of an issue since there are a lot of REU demos and REU is much harder to find. It could be spread on disks with an easyflash write programm or something.

Maybe i (or someone else) should organise a "Cartridge Demo Compo" sometime :)

EasyFlash demos would be cool. And everyone can get one of these easy.

i'd prefer AR support over easyflash - just to remove the silly "we have lots of memory - lets play animations" shit

I guess DUBCRT kind of counts being a musicdisk by sceners with demo-ish screens.

Well, DUBCRT - it's a commercial product, so technically, does not matter at all who made it.
