I'm more into the Trance/Rave scene. Sucks in AMERICA because with the video i've seen, overseas is the place to truely experience the music and dance. In America, people dance to BON JOVI at clubs, and that's just wrong. Finding a place that plays TRUE TRANCE is VERY hard.
I think i'll move overseas someday soon. If anything, at least i'll get some extra rastertime for my raster bars :) (LOL) |

I rip all my raster routines from SWA demos :D That way they look awful in NTSC and PAL and I can say I was too stoned to do a simple scroll properly. It's a catch all excuse. Almost. I'm going to try telling the wife tonight that I was too stoned to go get groceries. I may end up sleeping in the car.
Phantom: If you move overseas though, you'll be forced to listen to music on the 64 at a slooooower pace than NTSC. I also prefer trance by the way. www.djdoboy.com he does his own mixing through Cool Edit and has some pretty good mixes. |

Wanderer. I'll check out your DJ.. I'm always on the lookout for new music and talents to listen to.
Also. DJ BART BROWN has a couple good trance albums, maybe you'll check him out.
Also, I've started playing my music according to PAL standarts. I actually think I'd prefer it because the NTSC musics are sometimes too fast.
Moreso. Just once i'd LOVE to attend a c64 party as they have overseas. Just to see what it's like and really see the true assholism of it all. Not trying to offend anyone, but seems PAL'rs still have an ego over NTSC'rs. Granted you get a little more timing and we don't do as well in the demo scene, but hey, at least some of us are trying to revive the pathetic NTSC scene. Trying to set standards is hard over here because NOBODY releases! |

When Christmas comes, my clown dedicates demos to me. When I make a game (3 seperate ones actually), I throw on a few intro pages and reward his ownership. My clown even tries to deny he made the demo:

I'm afraid I have a faulty clown who has split personalities. Still, the entertainment value of such ownership worth the odd glitch in his personality. I mean where else can you find someone who will GUARANTEED respond to my EVERY post. He's done so for the last month.

When Slartski makes a post, do I post immediately afterwards? That means ontopic, offtopic, stupidity, etc. Nope... yet he continues to do this for my posts as he has done for the last few weeks. It's basically a cry for attention because he still has issues with me. As I don't feel a need to followup to him, and even have him on ignore, yea... I think it's safe to say owned.
You see Simon, when a day comes where you see me having to chase him around the forums responding to his every word and babbling his name on mIRC and the oneliners, and going out of my way to find his comments left for other people's entries (yep he did this too)... well, then I will understand how lame I am.
As such a day hasn't occured, and all I have done is add some text pages and modify a few existing pages to make a fun game out of a borderline personality case, it's safe to say I won already.
This doesn't include the flood of PM's I received of support indicating that he is a "freak who can't get me out of his head."
Oh, and let's not forget I have not been banned from Lemon because I felt so upset that I refused to take out a "twonk" message about him, whereas he was banned because he couldn't comply with it. Faced with banishment he took that over removing a 'twonk' with my name. Err there's also the time he said he is "unable" to NOT reply to my posts.
So yes, I'm lame because I don't follow him. I don't speak his name every opportunity. I don't go looking for his messages. And he is sane because he pursues me, talks about me, tries to engage me and gets banned over me.
Of course you will never admit that he's messed up. But if you don't see it from my point of view, maybe the drug abuse and four time banishment from forums is a good place to start.
If I make a post with his name in it before he brings my name up, I'll mail you BOTH $100 US cash. My word on that.

As for this guy, who used to be called El Freako, he is living up to his name. I stopped posting after Christmas and in Mid-February the second I posted, the freak was there responding to me. Leave him alone he would only respond within 4 minutes to my each and every post to other people. It's like he desired some form of contact with me and when he received it, would play the "I'm a victim don't you dare persecute me" game. On Lemon64 he was booted because he wanted to keep comments about me in his profile and they refused. He took deletion over removing it. Now that is one serious mental disorder.
And night after night he remains posting trying to find the retribution he can never find. :)
Anyway it's been fun but it's Saturday night and unlike Chrome, I do have a life outside of this room. So take care y'all

Okay, I'll bitch. :)
I came to CSDb in the hope of meeting some of the guys that coded the C64 demos/mags/games masterpieces that I could only dream about, and to enjoy some nostalgia of the great days of the C64. I was never really part of the 'mainstream' scene, and definately didn't know much of the politics.
And I was in (short) contact with a guy named Slartibartfast (who used to write for an Australian Amiga magazine). We shared demos and stuff, and I had a few walkthroughs and maps for games printed in the mag. Long time ago. So I decide to find out what happened to him, and like I said, enjoy some nostalgia... and after a lot of searching, all I can find is some guy named Wanderer bitching about him, like it's the only thing he knows how to do.
I understand that there was/are disagreements, wars, disputes and politics in the scene... and I know there's two sides to everyone's story... but geez, I can hardly find a thing from Slarti himself, it's mainly Wanderer acting like the schoolyard bully that we all hated in school.
If anyone wants to clarify or tell me anything (without laying blame or accusing anyone) about where Slarti is, or what became of him, please let me know. I respect the guy and he was keen to teach me some stuff, until our lives went in different directions.
Apart from that, thanks to everyone who contributed to the scene -- I had some of the best times admiring all those quality cracks, demos and releases from you all. Just not the politics.

Slarti is still around, but he's busy with other real-world projects. He's a kingpin for a popular CMS project, and he's currently knee-deep in code trying to integrate the product with a javascript based GUI effects library.
I speak with him nearly every day. He hasnt gone anywhere. wdr seems to think slarti left the scene because of his silly game, but nothing could be further from the truth. I spoke with slarti the other day about the possibility of more demos and he seemed pretty keen.
Ignore the wanderer stuff, slowly people are learning to ignore him. Perhaps soon the scene can return to normality :)

So true... I was probably the only one italian who went there for the fun of the windows gals as I hate any kind of drug, I didn't like that. Luckly then I found Kaiserstrasse in Frankfurt ;-) |

Well I definately saw more mainland Aus sceners than Tassie ones. There are/were probably a lot more than I thought too, since my knowledge was very limited at the time... either way, I wish I'd been able to get into the scene when I was younger. You guys must have had some of the best times :D |

Some of the most interesting happenings from Function 2006, YO!
Can't remember who's idea it was, but we smashed in the toalet's door while Leon was shitting and sang "Happy Birthday" to his utter surprise. Well, he seemed damn fucked up at that moment, but later he and the other Singular guys managed to scare the shit out of me by singing a communist march while I was peeing. Seems that we promoted this to an annual party activity, so beware!
And we emulated Parrot's Compopic and Ziona took a snapshot. Starring Leon as the seal with a tiger-skin and me as the disabled samurai. It's fantastic, I'll post the photo ASAP! \%D/
The paprikash cooked in the backyard was more than delicious! Yummie.
Plus, three times hooray for the extra amount of alc in the Borsodi Bivaly beer!

Seems it's due to CSDb's URL parser which puts a spacer into strings which are longer than 70 chars. You could use TinyURL for shortening huge links.

I have made those changes last time, but it rebooted on me this morning again. our clever sysadmins have some mechanism to rewrite the registry on each bootup. so all I can say is:
