Three months later Shane's family has new hope he could be living in the area, but may not know what happened to him.

Brett Fell said he received a tip from a man who lives near the West Bank Expressway and West Jefferson Medical Center who described meeting someone named Shane who appeared to be homeless. Another man who is homeless told FOX 8, he believes he met Shane too.

"They weren't sure if he had a head injury or what he knows. I know one thing, the guy I met who I feel is him told me his name was Shane," said a man who would only identify himself as Tim. "Believe me it's him. He got the scar. It's him," he said.

Both men claim they saw Shane around the West Bank Expressway around or on Labor Day weekend. The Fell family said it's a coincidence, and the two men don't know each other.

"We don't want him to be hurt of course, but this is our best case scenario that he doesn't know who he is and he's wandering around trying to figure it out. My mom's had a few phone calls at their house and when they answer the phone nobody answers and it's been.. it's happened quite often the past two or three weeks," said Brett Fell.
