SDI is a great music editor but the struggle with compiling the music is... I understand this was not intended to be a tool for the masses but... why are player features set to disabled in the code by default? And the manual mentions "Press ←+L to load ”S.SDI21-N50” and I was wondering why it doesn't work. Of course, you have to press ← first, then L.
Anyway, I made a music with SDI, achievement unlocked.

Selecting edit modes with F4 is untouched and is present as it should be.
I have used this version of the editor to create many songs the last two years, I don't know why you can't use the F4 key.

removing edit from F4 keypress, is useless mistake. its best to hear notes while entered. composing in blind with this, so not gonna use it.

In Vice 2.4.15, this release can't read 1.8 files, nor can 1.8 read 2.17 files.

As this is a native tool, there's no need for a cross-assembler compatible player source. I'd rather use the object file of the finalized tune if I'd really need cross-assembling.

How's about delivering the source in a format that is suitable for crossassembling? Same goes for the dump. It can only be attached with the special TASS version on disk (other version like the build in version in RR choke), which is so broken that it can't even write the object file directly to disk. Also an extra byte has to be saved to not break the song. This is all, but not a modern toolchain. Sorry to say that.
