Defend Lman, defend. It is sure nice in the scene. You can simply never do anything right. I love the må3 links, they are how you created them for me, using your Tools... Real he, emulated sids, pc, Mac and modern interface, your sid studio. Thanx for very high quality music.

As I said, I understand and accept your opinion, but mine is different, and will stay different on that matter.

Lman: Real C64 is a real C64. Nothing else. Every SID sounds a little different, but roughly you could state 6581 or 8580 as some kind of standard (and PAL or NTSC of course), and if you really want to be sure that people hear what you want them to hear state (or sample) your 6581R4 or whatever revision is in your C64 and state that you specifically made the tune for a specific revision. Many composers try to make the sid so it sounds about the same on every revision (really hard of course), or just state 8580 when they are fond of all filterknocking. In your case I would say 8580 all the way, of course.

Emulated SID will never count as a new revision of a physical SID.

I'm not really a big fan of leads of those kind, but since everything is a straight-walking perfection, a 9/10 from me. (Nice sweeping chords in the break too!)

Philosophical question: What is a real machine?

What revision of the c64? What SID version? Isn't an emulated SID chip just another version of a SID chip?

Regarding SID music, hearing what the artist heard when making it is what counts. That's my opinion, I understand that yours is different. :D

shows how much ppl actually can tell if a sid is played from a emulator or a real machine. :D

Then there is even less reason to add mp3:s, Lman. Sample from your C64 instead. That is what counts. Really.

Massive thanks guys.

Regarding my mp3s, I'll have to add that the versions of the songs on my homepage are recordings from SIDPlayw/2. Still those are the official versions, and I take extra care to make them sound nearly identical on my real c64.

Well, I have to say that you can play MP3 on c64,
Also I prefer to hear the composers original chip recording to have authenticity of the sound.
And lastly big thanks to Lman for making his own flavour of music and inspiring others when we all thought there wasn't much left to get out of the Sid.
Now all I wait for is Lman's pencil drawings to merge into hand pixelling.!!!

Great track, I love how you get that dark bass connected to the bright lead. And finally I like your instrumentation. Multispeed is what we need :)

the website field for them is more than enough, sorry for being repetitive.

Submitted by hedning on 26 December 2015
Of course. A link to his website is perfectly ok - but adding links to mp3-files IS quite strange as they can't be played on a C64. I guess the only real reason adding them is to spred the tune more to lazy asses outside the scene? ;)
User Comment
Submitted by Jammer on 26 December 2015
I assume that if Markus points to mp3 on his website, it's perfectly ok.

I was totally bashed before when I went berzerk and erased all mp3-files. Now the tide has turned. Maybe a new discussion is needed?

Submitted by iAN CooG on 26 December 2015
LMan: please don't add MP3s as dl links, they're not pertinent to this database.
A link in the website where they are is ok and enough.
