Fun idea, I've was thinking of using C64 Scene 1.2 with Google Cardboard to achieve a similar result. But this is better as it can run on a real hw :)
However, technically it's not a VR, more like a stereo/3d-vision.

How about adding some giroscope sensors and feeding it back through a joyport?
As Ptoing noted, it would be hard to keep 50 FPS for a vector based game, but I can imagine a VR demo at least. Or VR Asteroids :) Or 2 synced CPUs, like Single Core

Since it's not scrolling based on head position the framerate isn't a problem. It's more 3D than VR.
