Like it. My only gripe is the "path" on the right side with the cat looks more like smoke or smthn not sure what it is, depth or perspective or whatever seems flat.

Ah nice one :)
Feels cozy, moody and original. I like the mountains, trees and at last a proper rendition of our satellite!
Thumbs up from me. Im not surprised to see this one win and it tells that its not the amount of pixels that count (not referring to multi-screen gfx here but to overloaded gfx in general)...

Congrats. no critique of your work from me. simply an observation...that stylistically, this image reminds me of Wayne Schmidt, so that's no bad thing to have on your comments :)
Edit: also it looks like it could be game graphics. which makes a nice change.

Very fitting theme. My favorite part is the use of light and dark, especially in the moon-lighted mountains and the treeline. Well done and keep up the good work!

It really makes me wonder, how does Carrion see that a picture is:
>just another wired and
>Koala-dithered simple image....

I've seen the original of KOALAMAN and it's pure PAL. Did he pixelize the final result in some way that is wrong to you, or what is Carrion's problem this time??

Marco: You were not drunk? BAN HIM FOR X-14! :)

Congratulations...

I *did* vote, was not drunk and was pretty surprised that this became the winner (think I gave this one a 6 or 7). Also, I made phiotos of each & every picture with my phone, so I actually rated all of them. My fave one was by Pal, with Archmage as #2, and there were a lot of pics much better than this one in my personal opinion but congrats to Sphinx nonetheless.

It makes me sad to see the sore losers and moaners in here. If you wanted different results you should put your efforts into voting at the party (which I am pretty sure you didn't), instead of coming here and spoiling the joy Sphinx surely must have felt when winning. She won fair and square, and I congratulate her with all my heart! And I'm kind of glad the prize went to somebody fresh instead of one of us old sour geezers. ;)

carrion... are you kidding me? Is it humor from you or serious about my entry? And move your answer to my koalaman image maybe!

Again Sphinx, congratulations!

It's not my favourite from the compo, but on the night, more people voted for this than any other, so Sphinx won! There's no point in being angry about that.

Sphinx, congrats! You keep improving which is great to see!

Wow.. truly great to see Cozy Home take the win!!

Personally I was watching the compo through Scenesat and this was my nr.2 pic (would have voted Archmage as 1st).. but having more or less my entire top 5 pick ending up top 5 was good :)

This Cozy Home is simply soothing.. It's an excellent graphics style that most of your oldtimer competitors have left behind in pursuit of perfection.. thanks for some nostalgia to the past in a modern jacket!

thx for all the comments, but i think i should say also anything. first of all, thanks to all guys, who has voted me on first place in the competition and for all the nice comments here. for sure, also for me, it was the biggest surprise hearing my name for the first place on xparty. also for me, there are some pictures, which should be voted higher than my picture. i know, my pixel technique isn´t as high as archmage´s, pal´s or duce´s, but because i know this, i have chosen a motif, which is capturing the autumn and halloween feeling outside, so someone could feel perhaps the passion of it - on the big screen of the party and has voted for it - like veto, for example, already wrote. for sure, it is not a "first position thing", but i´m also not 100% happy about the first place, but it is like it is, perhaps, for the next party for those, who don´t like the results of the competition: if you have your personal favorite, you should stay up and vote for it... ;-)? and i hope, for the next competition, i will have a motif for another time, which some ppl will like and i will skill my technique for beating some day, perhaps, duce, pal or archmage without discussions, hehe... ;-) btw. guys: awesome pictures, i love them!

The earlier X parties had jury voting, but most attendants preferred public voting. So that's what we installed. Now that the compos quantity and quality have grown to unprecedented levels, you bet that something *will* change for next X.

However, please join me in congratulating Sphinx with winning X-2012 with a very nice picture indeed!

The perspective of the cat strikes me as wrong and I don't like the plants around the house that much, which is a pitty, because apart from that I like it very much.

It is what it is and it won the graphics compo... no matter what, if you like it or you hate it or other images were better - sphinx still won x2012 graphics compo... And that must have been a great feeling for you, I felt great when I got the third place, a bit angry that my entry did not win over that lame archmage image, but I will get over that. All in all it is about giving your best and also have fun creating it and then comporesult can remain a comporesult. Congrats and love from me for your victory!

Compos are funny old things and votes can go all over the place, take a look at the music compo for examples of wonderful voting nuttyness *grin* + what Veto said makes a hella lot of sense...

It's a nice piccy (do keep pixelling!) its great to see new folks making stuff!

Personally I like some of the other pics more; but that doesn't mean you go accusing the orga's of pulling strings... that just ain't cool /o\ :P

Hey is doesn't really matter too much if people think its a fixed cOmpo, because we were there and like Yazoo said, it's a great pic and everyone should have voted properly if they are that bothered that you won. Nice to meet you At the party too Sphinx. Keep pixelling!!!

congrats sphinx. it was a huge surprise that you won, i know esp for you. imo you have won by your motive.

for those who have not been at the party, it was a special situation. during the compo almost nobody took notes. there were 30 pictures in the compo - so people had to remember (btw this pic was shown at the end). compo night was long and freezing cold outside. and it would be also interesting to know how many people actually voted - assume about 60 perhaps. strictly speaking - i had also different favorites (the whole bunch of electric, archmage, frost, duce, pal, carrion, ...). but i also voted 8 for sphinx. because the pic looked really nice on the bigscreen and i like the scenery.

sphinx might be lucky, but under these circumstances it is good to see such a charming and warm picture winning imo. btw my favorite pic by sphinx, keep it up :)

nice picture sphinx. its not your fault, that you became 1st. as i know - you didnt even vote yourself on that position (you didnt vote at all - right?). and you really dont need to say sorry for the votes of the (small) remaining partycrowd at 5am. so dont feel bad about the comments please :) i like it very much, even if #1 may be a little high. there were just very few ppl left for the voting, and it seems they voted this way - so you can be proud. all the ones complaining should have been there and voted themself, if they are not happy with the result. thats just what i think. and it looked pretty nice on the big screen. so - good job.

and its not just the gfx-compo. also ppl complain about the results of the sid-compo. so what.
may the bashing go on... you shouldnt care too much and go on with another picture :)

edit: to reveal my own vote: i have voted 8 on this in the compo, and i didnt just do it because its my girlfriend and / or groupmate, but i like the motif. it has a nice atmosphere. also wanna mention that i have voted higher on the pics by archmage and pal as far i remember. i didnt vote for all pictures, because i couldnt remember them all at 5am.
so - no shameless groupmate-voting here.

nice, but #1 .. smells like a fix / judges need glasses / rigged votes .. others lower down the list , are better . better qualified people who didn't take part would agree I bet... e.g. SIT / STE to name but 2.
