@Mace: I've noticed the way many C64 coders use IRQs out of pure habit in places where simple polling suit much better and generate smaller and more readable code.

Anyone have any ideas why this is the case?

F.e. logo swinger + scroll + music really don't need any raster interrupts at all.

This production actually contains ASM code by Knoeki... although I think he's had some help.
