If I had known this demo would spark such controvercy I would've added this note beforehand (but we were tired after the party).
I/we have never claimed this is a standard hardware C64 demo. The demo is meant for original REU, using the spec REU from 1985 (which is max 512Kb). Also we did not want to do a preloaded movie demo (a.la Crest BlueREU demo, which is awesome btw, thumbs up you guys) - mostly because its VERY, VERY good.
The design rules were:
* no preload of data beforehand, the entire demo should be runnable on one disk (preferrable one d64 file).
* no pure moviesequences loaded from disk - except for half the rotating scroller, all "animations" are calculated during the execution of the demo, they are not loaded from disk.
* try utilise the DMA-controller - which only provides a method of moving data fast.

Will we make another REU demo later, perhaps. Will we stop making stock C64 demos, nope.

"512Kb of memory. No more, no less" reminded me a scene from simpsons.

This demo must be viewed using a REU with exactly 512Kb of memory. No more, no less.
Edit:
if you are using VICE, the REU can be activated in "settings->cartridge IO->REU settings" any empty file can be mapped, the demo runs from an empty REU file.
if you are using 1541UII, remember to limit the memory to 512Kb (otherwise there will be a lot of incorrect graphics).
