Despite what the credits say, the tune by DJB is not the recently discovered Jazzy_Thing_v2.sid (added in HVSC#60) but actually Bakewell_Dwayne/Jazzy_Thing.sid, already in HVSC since years, but apparently also never used anywhere.
Both tunes are too large for VN, which requires tunes fit $1000-$24ff; Jazzcat wanted to add Jazzy_Thing_v2.sid but was even larger than the original version. By analyzing the actual used data and code in Jazzy_Thing.sid, I could move some of the data in unused holes and fit it barely in the required memory boundaries, and then adapted the 2x play routine to be used in VN. Of course the output is exactly the same, everything checked with both siddump and our internal checking tools. |
