That's only half the story, Janzl.
In the 70's and early 80's we had a trend called "preferred spelling" (that was even allowed in schools).
It comes down to that if there are sounds in a word that are interchangeable with others, phonetically similar, you are allowed to choose which one you use.
Thank the gods it went out of fashion towards the end of the 20th century. |
