The note was the first file on a spreaddisk containing the one-file-demos "The Devil", "Willow", "Sideborder" and "Sony Logo". So "piece of code" seems to be refering to the several small demos instead of a release of that very name.

So I decided to include it on the biggest file of these... and it contains credits information on the release, too.

I'm not really sure the note is related to the demo, it says "note to Piece of Code", while the demo is called "Willow" and it doesn't mention it anywhere.
