NEW FEATURE: Support for Scannerboy's defMON sync interface for the user port, which allows DIN-sync, MIDI sync, Gameboy sync (LSDj and Nanoloop) as well as modular synths.
NOTE: Sync is always enabled in this version, and this could potentially lead to some unexpected behavior if you have some other kind of hardware connected to the user port than the defMON Sync interface.
defMON Sync starts as soon as you hit play (F1/F3) and stops when you press stop (F7). To fine-tune when the first sync pulse should be sent after hitting the play button you can change the DIN Sync delay parameter, using CTRL+SHIFT+DOT/COMMA. Delay $00 is the default and starts sending sync pulses as soon as possible. Delay $04 may be recommended for most cases, but you have to experiment with what sounds best for your hardware and tune etc. Goto80 reported $05 to be optimal for defMON in sync with a 808. You will also notice that the timing changes a slight bit if you change from 1x speed to 8x speed and such.
Note that the Sync functionality assumes that there will always be 6 ticks for each two steps in the sequence so you can't just change the values in the speed columns in the sequences to whatever values and still expect defMON Sync interface to work. You'll either have to use 3 ticks on each step (corresponding to the default setting of 2 in the speed column) or you can alternate between 4 and 2 ticks (=6). To change the playback speed of tunes when using the sync interface, you rather have to use the C=(+SHIFT)+F1..F7 button settings that change how often the player should be called.
The delay value is saved with your tune when you save it, so you don't need to change it again when loading the tune some other day.
BUG FIX from previous version: Playing tunes wouldn't work after loading another tune when a channel on SID #2 in a stereo sid tune was previously turned off. |
