I should sacrifice the background behind the fighters then. also IK+ has only the 3rd karateka, here there are the 3rd and the 4th one, so not doable I'm afraid.

ik+ uses CHARs for the 3rd player. Something to consider.

the goal is to have a decent playable fighting experience for 4 players. I'm aware I'll face problems to solve and decisions to take, like: should I had AI for fighters or make it 4 human players only? the fighter animation, compared to the original IK, will be another one: for some moves I could try to make it fit in 2 sprites, use x-expanded sprite for the leg or else. let's see...

Are alle moves allowed? Some karateka animation frames are 3 sprites wide. Are you plotting the 3rd sprite into the bitmap?

next step: buy a 4 joystick adapter! it sucks being the coder and not able to test :)
thx to Subjik and ArcadeStation for the testing, and Sokrates for some useful input!
