Thank you everyone for your comments! Was an amazing experience to get this one across the line with the looming deadline of Syntax 2019. All the guys worked pretty hard to make it (thank you so much!).

Next issue will hopefully surface around June next year. Until then!

Usual huge bunch of excellent and interesting articles which will be taking a week at least to read everything.
I'd like to thank every musicians involved for always providing their best productions and contributing on indirectly making VN one of the best periodical music disks around. Not a single flaw, made my day.

Man! I just wanted to take a quick look before I go to bed. Downloaded it, transfered it to disks, got excited by the intro alone (WOW!), dug into it, had to go back here and drop a straight 10 - and I'm still not asleep! What a great job you did there (again), chapeau!

Worth to download for the music roster itself - and I'm not saying this because I have a track there :)
Then there's the vast amount of content, days of read is guaranteed.
Thank you for all who was working hard to make it happen and thank you for inviting me to make a music for this issue.

Carrion: Depends on what kind of equipment you have. If you have a laptop or other PC with a real (not USB) floppy drive, you could use that from DOS, using 1581-Copy V0.54. You could also use RR-net and Warpcopy06 D81 [bugfixed] on yoru modern PC.

another awesome big ass issue!

first off, I really like the intro, all the fades really work and the pace makes it stand out. the enjoy fadeout is best, but there's also your only fuck up, should've faded the music! ;)

mirage gives a masterclass and remains the pixel king.

and then there's all this content, very well balanced. liked the "in love with pixels" article a lot and it helps heaps that the vn engine is so good it also allows all kinds of gfx in every article

and then there's the soundtrack, so many gems I cant name em all, but I guess Drax wins and the middle part from unz unz Stinsen was damn nice. or maybe Laxity wins or Vincenzo or JT or noksje, or maybe I should name em all lol

great, great read.
Thanks again for the d81 version.

I think Im coming back with this question again and again but here it is: any good solutions for writing d81?
I use CBM128 tool (in c128 mode) to save from SD2IEC to 1581 but it takes over 1 hr... how to speed it up? TIA

Very nice read. Of course there are ups and downs. The List and the party reports were especially good, as was the original supplier's article and some interviews with good q&a. Well written. The demo reviews could have more depth and analysis though, as they merely describe the visual effects we all can see ourselves.

@Jazzcat.
Thanks for explanation
I think Mirage's style is so well recognizable. And he will stay my all time c64 pixel master....
Oh and the logo... well - just a Mirage himself!

I had a brief look at the content so far. Gonna read it tomorrow the proper way - from real 1581 drive as I always do with VN and real machine. 馃憤
But saw accidentally my pic in the Facets article - strange experience... definitely gonna read it tomorrow! ;)

oh and btw: good to hear from Marcus Schneider again. great tune!

Thanks Carrion. Mirage did the left part of the intro image. Facet did the right part of the intro image. Also, Mirage did the main menu logo.

the credits says there some gfx from Mirage.
Is it the girl face in in the intro? or maybe something else?
