Sander; Well.. don't tell me. Tell vinzi! :) Personally I think that screen looked more fresh in 1997 than what it does now, in retrospect. At that time I guess it was more of a design choice (together with the digitized muzak) which involved at least some work (no cross assmebly involved in the production of this stuff), whereas from the point of view of 2010, it looks more like a lazy Timanthes conversion or so.

@Ed: K12-influences on HT are probably quite real and not just an incidental similarity... Vinzi shared an apartment in Stockholm with K12 for a while, for example. (K12 also happens to host the HT mailing list.

The style of Hack and Trade in this period really reminded me a lot of a little more harch version of K12 and Groovy bits:
