Nice version. :)
Btw, set the background color to red on the title pic to display a hidden message.. or whatever it is..

Amazing that a one-filer had this kind of protection with doubtable gain :) Props for the proper crack, and awesome intro logo :D

I have to agree with most of the former comments: It´s a very nice crack-intro and indeed a very proper game design by some of the finest.

Awesome! I have been wanting to play this ever since I read the article about it in Retro Gamer magazine. I never knew about it in the past...was probably too busy trying to raise my status on Elite.

Petroleum-lamps are also alive. People use them when camping.

Yes, as Fungus said... oh and to reinforce that... the C64 is dead too... ;)

Good work, I like it. About time someone did this. We need people who are like you on the scene. Good jeorb! watch out for jazzcat... he may try to recruit you *snicker* and ... cracking scene is dead!

Brilliant. Not only the intro but proving what I actually always knew: nobody plays the games they copy/collect - me included ;).

Yep. Lovely version and as stated, nice to see the real first release of this after so many years of nothingness.

When I play cracks like this it makes me smirk at comments that the cracking scene is dead on C64 (usually made by people who have no idea).

Two thumbs up! More please.

If indeed it's 100% working, nicely done. Love this game, have played it for hours over the years. Would like to finally finish it.

A year or two ago we got a proper Amiga version (thanx to Galahad) and now we also have the c64 variant. Great ! :)

ksubi: good job! I cant remember many details about Exile, but I reckon people broke it when fixing the password check on saving the game

Wonderful release. Clearly a well deserved first-release (note that this is the first ever working version) - now make a proper version of Knight Tyme aswell. :-) I've always had a hunch that something wasn't right with the cracks of this title. Brilliant intro too.

Thanks everyone for your comments.

Fungus: I'm a n00b who has been watching the scene for sometime, admiring both crack and demo scenes. Been coding for a year or so...decided to try some cracking.

Mason: The in-game protection scheme was a checksum routine spread through out the game. If the values varied from what they should have been, either through tampering of code, or reset, then the game would randomly remove sprites (items needed to complete the game).

I guess back in 1992 though, no one had the time to play it through to test their versions. It is a massive game, and takes hours to complete. Hence why no one picked up on the random disappearance of items.

Could be fun to hear what the ingame protection was about.... since it has been discussed for so long
