Text from ABBA Gold - The Collection

Description:Menu Scroller by Lemming, Rock , Miy and Dr.j
Text:25.03.2016 it's rock of finnish gold typing, still alive and well, i wish you all welcome to the abba gold - the collection made by finnish gold and delysid! Take a good position in your couch and enjoy this production we have made for you all. All tunes are arranged by me, the one and only rock , gfx made by shine and dr.j coded this all to one piece. A short story about this release, while i was still composing david bowie tribute dr.j asked me if we can make another collection . i was thinking about abba and surprisingly dr.j suggested abba aswell! Well, we told the story to shine, and believe or not he made the first gfx in just few hours! F'king amazing work man! Some polishing here and there in the next few hours and almost all was finished, shine rules:) i started the project around the middle of february and just in days i did 5 tunes, not bad i thought. All went actually quite easy so i was able to arrange 15 great abba songs for your pleasure. most of the songs fits well to future composer, there are some tempo issues in just 2 or 3 songs but i can live with it..... my favourite tunes are, head over heels, sos, intermezzo no.1, money money money, well actually there are so many... abba rules.......... that's all from me this time . I keep my shit short and let other dudes continue, but before i throw keys to lemming here are my personnal greetings, dr.j/delysid, shine/delysid, all fig members, artline designs, drax/mon/bonzai, v-12/tropyx, jazzcat/onslaught, mixer/origo dreamline, pal/offence, motion/artstate, romppainen/triad, byterapers, perplex/ offence, ian coog/hokuto force, dr. science/atlantis, trap/bonzai, jammer/multiStyle labs, geoanas, cadaver/covert bitops, dane/booze design, stinsen/genesis project. And all the others i missed. now i pass the keys to lemming, go go go! Oh no! Oh YES! It's lemming here whacking the keyboard, mesmerized by the psychedelic sounds of Future Composer transmitting these everlasting classics of Abba as arranged by the master himself: Rock! The man started doing these arrangements already while the David Bowie Tribute was in finishing stages, and maaaaaaan he's simply ON FIRE! I said it then, and now I've said it again. Back then when Rock told me he wants to make an Abba tribute next, I only had one thing to say: It needs to be called ABBA GOLD. Yeaaaah, ABBA GOLD by FINNISH GOLD and DELYSID, that's just genius isn't it? Going for double gold! Of course everyone remembers the legendary Abba Gold CD-compilations from the 80s and 90s, or if you don't you're probably underaged and shouldn't be reading this scrolltext because it contains references to drugs and violence. Take it from someone who saw Rhaa Lovely I & II at the tender age of eight: Braindamage is real! Anyway, back to Abba - of course as a rough'n'tough all-knowing teenager, I didn't really find that Abba cool. Not until the trip back home from The Gathering 1996 in Norway, when I was boozing with Destop/CNCD at the boat from Sweden to Finland. Destop told me that he thinks Abba is DOPE, and I was like Maaan, I dunno, come on, isn't it a bit easy not that I've really Properly LISTENED to it, but seriously?? So Destop told me to watch the movie Priscilla - Queen Of The Desert and then properly listen to Abba, because it would make me realize that Abba is dope. So I did, and he was right. Abba rules. And so does Priscilla - Queen Of The Desert. Watch it, love it, embrace it, or be condemned to eternal lameness of the mind. As for Rock and this compilation, I also had one request to be included here - my favorite Abba tune Gimme Gimme Gimme. All of ya probably remember the Madonna song Hung up from 2005 as well. I have to admit I think that was some pretty clever sampling and production in that track and it was also the last decent Madonna album, but then again I was on so much drugs with my ex-wife and some other wimmens back then that I'm probably damaged goods regarding this shit as well. However everyone also knows Abba's Waterloo, the quintessental Eurovision-song, and ya know, Waterloo is in Belgium and it kinda feels a bit haunting writing this text on the same day that daesh struck in Brussels. 34 dead, 250 injured so far. I was just off to work when it started going down at the Zaventem airport and, what can I say, it simply felt mad as the morning newscast turned to this and IRC started going wild. Feels lame and easy to just say my condolences to everyone in Belgium in this scrolltext, but still, my condolences. What else can I say. March 22nd, 2016. A mad day. The world doesn't seem quite right right now, but like the just about last words my friend Pineapple/Flatline Productions (oldschool PC, RIP mate) spoke to me before I left his hospital bedside as he was dying of complications from the treatment of brain-cancer, back in January 2010, went: Janne, remember to eat, booze, and rejoice life! .. yup, words to live by for everyone us! OR, as the late Arthur Lee sang - once again: Everybody's gotta live, 'coz everybody's gonna die. Oh crap, I wrote it again. I already see myself writing those lines to every future FIG production, just like MIY always writes about how women had big bushes back in the 80s. Today women mostly have small or non-existant bushes, and as I think about it, I'm starting to realize the world is quite neat after all. Superspecial greetings to Satu G should go here, haha. I love ya. I'll keep the list a bit shorter this time, but while we're at it here's a bit of personal greetings going out to: enthusi/ONS (been great co-oping with you, next week's gonna be fun!), Pal/Offence (texts coming up, and the demo will ruuuuuule), DDT/Accession, Tom-Cat/N0S, S!R/N0S, Mazor/Fairlight, Mixer/Origo, Jugi/Complex, Mikron/Byterapers Inc, NRG gr glxblt and everyone in the the Simulaatio mob (Simulaatio 7 in May 2016 will ruuuuuule!), Zardax/Origo, Karmar/PWP, Stoneman/Primitive, Caveman aka Dr.Q (time for Abba SID-karaoke mania, do your thing!), dHM/Complex, Dweezil/Complex, TBB/Extend, Jazzcat/ONS, Krill/Plush and ESG/HF whom I forgot the last time. Want to get your C64 repaired and maintenanced or buy some cartridges? Contact me in ircnet at #c-64 or by pm at CSDB. Well, it's already past midnight and I need to get up for work again tomorrow. Blah. Power to the proletariat! Take a stand, fuck the man. (-Jon Spencer) Now I'll just throw this keyboard back to cyberspace and we'll see who grabs it. Bye bye from lemming!
