Vice Tribute gone

Hi,

I assume some admin removed our latest release, Vice Tribute. I am puzzled why this happened and why I wasn't informed?

When a release causes a debate about "where does this go?" .. "how do we show a screenshot for this?" you know it's a good release :-)

Now many others are looking for ways to break CSDB I wonder?

:-)

Raistlin: be aware that some tried and got banned.
Have fun.

I don't mean to literally -break- CSDB.. I just mean to release C64 things that are edge cases that don't fit into the various buckets of releases (like Bonzai's demo here - though I agree with Trap that it -is- a C64 demo.. "debug borders" gives a different view of EVERY demo after all).

I have debug borders on in my vice settings as default since ages. I only change it back to normal border if I should take a screenshot. it's... funny :)

There are actually a couple demos that have things in the invisible area so you can only see them when tweaking the monitor. Graham would know which :/

I use full border both for watching and developing stuff, it's the closest I can get to what my Philips CM8833 showed. VICE's full border shows a bit more, so some of my old demos have 'bugs', such as sprite garbage way up in the upper border, or non-covered left sideborder when doing a sideborder scroller with the usual 4 sprites. The later can be 'fixed' by using 5 sprites and $d011 trickery like Krill did, but that's a lot of work for something that doesn't show on the real deal with an old CRT.

I guess you're referring to the intro of Vandalism News #34 - i went through the trouble of having 5 sideborder sprites specifically because my 1084S shows everything on the left including the blindingly white sync burst stripe (which i keep adjusted to just under the left bezel edge). =)

Yes, that's the one. And now that I watch it again in x64sc, you have some greydots on the left =)

I always thought the Philips CM8833 was a clone of the 1084S or vice-versa, but perhaps not.

Haha, yeah. That was something i couldn't quite get around. If you have 8 sprites enabled on a line, raster bar colour switches will inevitably be pushed into the visible area due to the wall of DMA in the sideborders.

I suppose they aren't. And come to think of it, no 1084S seems to be a clone of another, either. =)

Lord Moloch gave me a link to this: https://gona.mactar.hu/Commodore/monitor/Commodore_monitors_by_..

Which only adds to the confusion =)
