Event id #2602 : X'2018

"One entry per person or group per compo". I am a little bit confused. Can a group release two demos in a compo if the demos has different authors or not?
How about 4k, one entry per coder or one entry per group?

This rule is mainly to avoid people entering multiple pics/tunes in the music/gfx compos. Groups should only enter one demo in the demo compo though. With 4k, it's one 4k per coder.

Quality over quantity, we don't want compo-fatigue :)

I notice that this year's X weekend is one hour shorter than usual. (Clearly, the meditation people want that particular weekend to themselves, in order to experience the immense spiritual power of the wiching hour.)

Did you notice that we open at 13:00 so techically it is 5 hours longer. Four if you take wintertime into account :)

Are stickers with group names allowed on the sleeping room doors if you remove them again before leaving?

I don't need stickers, I snore extremely loud, even worse after consuming copious amounts of alcohol (which I plan to do), so I'll probably have a room all to myself :)

Tim: Oh, that is excellent news! It means we get to party for 65% of the weekend instead of only 59%.

No, the only adhesive allowed is maskingtape which is used by painters because it is easily removable. On every door there is a blank plastic sign so please use that, however the same rule applies and the owners inspect the premises regularly.

Well you can easily increase that percentage as we always have use for an extra hand while building/cleaning the premises ;)

This edition I would like, like last year, to sell some stuff.
But it will be Amiga stuff. Anyone of the organizers have a problem with that?

We do not mind people selling stuff on a small scale. As long as you do not occupy any precious table space.

lol, snoring is awesome (when you do it yourself).

Seems snorers might get stored in closets, to reduce noice. Though I fail to see how that would solve the snoring of hundreds of drunk sceners.

Best thing to do is probably also get drunk and snore a half phase later to cancel out other snoring.

On a more serious note: what's the difference between "Demo competition" and "Single demo competition"? Does "Single demo competition" mean a one-filer?

That actually makes perfect sense, thanks!

Edit: Wait... What if enter the singles compo and one day before the party I get a girlfriend, what then? Do I have to dump her to be able to compete? (I'm fully willing to do that)

There is no 'single demo competition" on this page: http://www.scs-trc.net/x2018/compos

You might be referring to the onefile demo compo.

Will there be proper name tags this year? I think an event like this deserves more than paper stickers and Edding for the attendants. ;-)

I think the last time we used Edding markers and blanc stickers was probably in 2010. So yes we have proper nametags if everything works out as planned.

If I remember right, at X16 it was pretty time consuming at first when you were searching for right nametags for people when they paid their entrance fee. That didn't help getting people in smoothly and later on I noticed the nametags lying on the table in the mainhall where people were ought to pick their own tags..
What's your plan this year for getting people in without a massive queuing? Maybe the earlier start will help in this, but still I think there's some 100 people already there when you open the doors...

Just to make myself clear, I have nothing against queuing if there's beer available.. :-D

You are absolutely right. We drew the same conclusions during our evaluation. We hope that the crowd will arrive more evenly spread over the afternoon. Besides that we will have two parralel entry desks (instead of two serial desks). Finally the stickers will most likely be pre cut and handed out while registering at the entrance together with the pre ordered t-shirts. Also 4 persons per desk unstead of 3 iirc.

Just stickers again? Meh, those get lost too quickly IMHO. Why not proper tags?

No, these "stickers" really stick. But, do not use on leather, silk and velvet.

From the product specs:
- Made from acetate silk, which gives labels a material-like look and feel
- Sticks securely and removes easily without leaving any residue

These are not paper address labels. These self adhesive name badges are designed for conferences.

too bad for those stickers as i find nametags with clips better to wear and have them on-off when changing jackets and stuff.

and the clipped ones are better for memorabilia putting them in my c64 corner. :)
