Event id #3002 : Filterless Single Channel Compo 2020

' -$x0, $x1, $x2, and $x3 are the only waveforms allowed.'

Do these x'es indicate that only these effects can be utilized but I can choose any waveform I want? :) So far it looks like any wavofm with gate and sync only possible - which doesn't make any sense with one voice :D

that's what I planned to do - a "single channel" compo where everything is allowed, but restricted to one channel. the only thing though that should be disallowed would be any form of samples of course. but the question is, where does one draw the line. if someone changes the registers fast enough, it can already be "sample-esque", as compared to someone just doing it once per raster frame.

In my humble opinion, the rules would make more sense if the limitation was one voice, all waveforms and filters. Then you can use all your smart-assery with scarce resources. Right now, it's more like "Take this 5 cent coin and go make us a dinner, but be creative". ;-)

You might be surprised here, actually ;)

@Jammer: Proceed, I'd gladly will.

Made me smile, thanx ;-)

Did we get a definitive answer on whether or not hardsync and ring mod effects are allowed, with a silent channel used to set carrier frequencies?

Make software ringmod on 1 unlinked channel, ya sissy! :D

No more than 20 writes per register per frame, writes only allowed to registers 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,$0e,$0f,$12 & $18, and the only permitted values for writes to $12 are zero and eight (might need to reset osc3 to get consistent ringmod or sync effects).

Done!

So, just to clear up some things, the waveforms you can use are $1 through $8. This means triangle, saw, triangle+saw, pulse, pulse+saw, pulse+triangle, pulse+triangle+saw, and noise waveforms are allowed. Since a couple of entries have already used hardsync+ringmod without any linked channels, as long as you can use ringmod+hardsync without using more than one channel, it is allowed. Testbit with hard restart is allowed. Let me know if you have any more concerns.
