Event id #3069 : RemasterASID Compo 2021

In terms of "remastering", I'm open to both covers and edits, but editing the original (not to the point where it becomes unrecognizable) is what I was shooting for. I should have an example of what I'm looking for uploaded in a couple days.

I see you're working on setting compo rules more people (than only Jammer and you) understand. Cheers for that!

BUT somehow there's still a tendency to make things overly complicated imho.

Quoting 'From Entry Comment'
"Ideally looking for games from 1983-1985 [...] look for a composer you've never heard of before [...] The only limit here is 2 entries per participant, so everyone gets a chance to take part in remastering old, obscure SIDs."

That's still totally blurry. What's obscure to you, might not be obscure to me. What if I 've never heard of Rob Hubbard? Can I pick him as source?
I'd really opt for defining or (better) dropping the "old & obscure". And it's also vague if 1986 or younger sources are accepted. How about replacing that unclear "ideally blahblah" by "1980s games" tune?

"Remastering" old cools sids isn't that bad idea, I like it.

It _is_ a good idea, but before deciding whether to compete or not, wouldn't it be nice to know if post-1985 or whatever-source-ain't-"obscure"(for however that's supposed to be defined)-enough qualifies or not?

It's up to you what you remaster, you can do whatever SIDs you want. But the goal of this compo is to expose the scene to lesser known artists and have the chance to bring their works to the present day. I uploaded a couple of examples of what I have in mind for this compo, but do whatever SIDs you want to do.

you added as downloads non executable .prg files which are not needed at all, use PSID64 V1.2 on the .sid files to make executables

As I see from It's Cold Out on the Tiles example, 1987 is ok and the "obscure" stuff from the rules ain't crucial, I think, I'm gonna compete, too :)
