Event id #263 : Game On

just to mention it, this entry is clearly fucked up :=)

1. there should be a seperate entry for every single game on democompo
2. games published by game on should not be linked to a game on "event", thats just stupid.

as for number 1, any volunteer to go through the game on disks and collect the compo results? =P

Would be actually interesting - apparently Tekkno Fun was also submitted to a GO demo compo... :-)

I've been looking into all issues of Game On from the year 1992 and 1993. In 1992 there were no demos send to Game ON AFAI can read.

The first winning demo was announced in the 1/93 issue: Mix Pickles. Followed in the next issues by Paradise (2/93), Out of Coma (3/93), Nothin' Special (4+5/93), Out of Coma II (6/93), Tekkno Fun (7/93), Forget It (10/93), World of Chaos (11/93) and Triiod Demo (12/93)

So how you want this included in CSDB ?
Just put all mentioned demos here: Game On Demo Competition 01/93

Is the order of release on GO also the order of the compo results?
And the other demos which have been added to the Game On Demo Competition 01/93 event are from another year's compo then?
Thanks a lot for checking in any case!

iirc the compo was a monthly thing, and the winner then was published on the disc... not 100% sure though =)

Yes, it was a monthly compo. Only the winner was anounced in the magazine so I don't know about the other demos.

Do we make 1 entry in CSDB for every year as it is now of for every month ?

I can check issues 1994/1995/1996.

if it was a seperate compo every month, then every month should get its own entry for it, imho.

edit: and it should only contain demos actually made for the compo - other random demos that just somehow ended up on those disks shouldnt be mentioned (who cares really)

Offtopic:

I found back in the days hidden demos on Magic Disk or Game On...
Dont't know which one.

I mean with hidden, that they were hidden in the directory and i used a tool to make them visible.

I know only, that this was usually on side 1 of a disk afaik.

But i doubt somehow that this would be a real new release :(

@Shine: that sounds thrilling, though - I'd sure count it as a release, with the release month of the respective magazine issue, if those demos were not released otherwise before. I would just mention that in the trivia.

As i said i don't know the date correctly ... but the early version of MD and GO had no music. And the disk(s) that i mean had music. It should be between 1990 and 1993.

In the Game On article he is credited for handing in the winning demo 'Rainbow Warrior' so I guess he also coded the demo ?

Great work xIII! I wonder if there wasn't some sort of compo also in earlier years - many older issues had at least one demo on them as well, see https://www.c64-wiki.com/wiki/Game_On . For example Obsession was released on 10/92, and there must be some reason why it was entered here as a compo participant/winner...

I think those demos were just diskfillers but I will look into it. I have a poblem with opening some disks because they have a disk protection system.
