And he's listed as a coder and cracker. Clearly this is a mistake. Removing.

Judging from what he spilled into the Forum some years ago... my guess is "Text" is all he ever did :=)

If USSPE or any of their members ever did anything *but* run their mouths, it would be news to me. I'd be suspect of anything listed with that group besides intromaker rag demos and imports - which raises another question - is there any ACTUAL evidence that THE Headbanger was in this group and not just some lamer with the same handle?

I was 16 when I was in the group. I never used an intro maker to make demos or intros. I learned assembly from books and figured things out on my own at the time. I wrote the terds demo and couple other things. Hellbent includes two things I wrote(I don't remember making hellbent as a whole). I was member of a couple other groups. I can't speak for other USSPE members reputations. My role was pretty behind the scenes. I just coded. I learned a lot from a scener called Father Time. He explained to me how a couple raster effects worked.

I think your group-mates did you a severe disservice with their behavior if that's the case.

For curiosity's sake, did you have more than one handle back in the day? The version of the terds demo that floated around 513 had some altered text and I've always been curious about why.

Interesting.... I know FT very well, and hung out with him... So, when was this "learning" done? Just curious...

I talked to FT several times on the phone. We discussed his use of a specific starfield routine and how he and someone else were messing with fli. fli was brand new. not like he specifically went out of his way to teach me. i just learned a lot from talking to him.

The only other handle I went by was Fred. It was before I was in any groups.

Might be cool to tell Daryl(I believe that's FT) how as a kid I regarded him as a coding god. Today I am sr cloud arch at giant media company.

Ok, I looked through this thread again, and the big question that comes up is this:

FWIW, "FR ED - for FRomeyer, ED", was how Phil's sidekick Ed (in 513/606) told it when he said that was HIS original handle. The handle he was using at the time was "Wally Bignut". Who is/was pretending to be who here?

Re-phrasing the question: Was Phil's 513/606 local sidekick "Ed" pretending to be you, or have you and I had phone conversations in the 1980s? Do you remember the BBS, "Island of the Exploding Fruit"?
