Project One & Win8
Hmm seems like I hit the Win8 wall too!
Is it really true that there is no workaround the Project One + Win8 problem ??
And no, I don't want to get rid of Win8... =)
Is there no way we can persuade Oswald to do a Win8 compatible version ??
Oswald Pleeeease =) |

Quote: Stabilizing it would be highly appreciated! I had a nasty crash yesterday, loosing a big chunk of my progress. CTRL+S gives a File Access Error, so constantly saving isn't an option - and I tend to forget it anyway if I'm in a middle of pixelling.
try ctrl+c for that, but check first if it works correctly ie: if it really puts on the clipboard, and you can get it back with ctrl v ;)
dont use ctrl+s, I guess it saves in native format, and that doesnt supports non 320x200 sizes.
try export instead, that will save in .bmp (with some luck)
file acess error will maybe be gone if you manage to open a file first.
(Yes p1 is a mess) |

Any chance for a "portable" version?

Quote: Good to know! Especially that new color conversion method sounds promising.
Meanwhile, all is working perfectly except file menu.
There is a lot of tools to make any app portable and maybe this is the way to make P1 working on W81. I'll try in a minute. |

Two bugs i have encountered (Which you may be aware of already)
Nybbles swapped when saving koala in hires.
Exporting as GIF produces other pixels in the image that should not be there (Saving as PNG is fine) |

Well it seems like P1 and W8 will never be friends!
Luckily VM Workstation did the trick! Yes a shitty solution, but hey it works =) |

Solution found!
On Win10 anniversary update, P1 is actually working like a charm, without any pooping errors!
The Procedure:
1. Install Visual Basic 6.0 Runtime Plus from SourceForge.net
2. Do not install P1 into system drive!
3. You don't have to use "Runa as admin.."
4. Everything is working fine: import/export/load/save in all formats.
5. Do not use SETUP from the latest release, that one actually not fully working. Try previous 0.6 installation exe.
That's all :D

Oswald: your source is like 10 years old now? No one will blame you if it's crappy. Just open source it on BitBucket and then compatabilty is not your concern anymore. |

would make more sense to Open Source the .net version that I have started on, but its not in a co-op state and not developing it currently, main gui, setting pixels works kind of and nothing else, no I/O, undo, converter part, whatsoever. |
