Intro Creation Competition Lite - Rules draft
This is another crazy idea - born at Mibri's demo show this week. Rules are draft and may be different if the compo really happens. So here is a draft for the rules:
Intro Creation Competition Lite
Task: Create an intro using an available intro maker.
Another compo idea from Mibri's demo show.
Rules:
- Intro must be created using an already available intro maker. Don't code your own for the compo! You have to add a link to the used intro maker when posting your entry.
- You may only change what the intro maker allows you to. No custom code or code hacks are allowed.
- Intro must be exitable by pressing a key (usually SPACE). Run/Stop+Restore to make it crash does not qualify for this function. ;-)
- Your entry must be executable and be handed in as PRG or D64. You are of course allowed to compress it.
So what do you think? Anyone up to join in. Annotations to the rules? |

yeah, that's the correct name.
Sorry Didi, I wanted to support you and your idea but it seems you are collecting more NO than YES.
you could try to create a release with an intro maker as example, with some special fx, so people will rethink and say "hey, that idea is not bad after all".
Otherwise if I were you I wouldn't risk such a compo. |

What Dwangi said. DOTY would be so much more fun! |

If anybody really wants to go meta, then there should be an "intro component compo" instead.
Agree upon a common API/framework for scrollers, bitmaps, themes and other elements of a typical intro, then those who don't think it's an entirely ridiculous idea implement any of those.
In the end, lots (...) of different parts to combine for actual intros.
Don't expect much more than typical run-off-the-mill intromaker intros, though. But surprises do happen. |

Well, from the reactions I will close this as the crazy idea it was - it will not happen... at least not organized by me. |

gpz: intro linking compo is always on, they call it list/charts/stats/younameit
DOTY: Definetely not a bad year for that, I suggest a deadline in fall or even New Year's Eve. Summer should be reserved for sillier stuff. |
