I am glad my old dutch friends had another stormer of a party, yet again.
BUT groups holding back stuff. it's annoying in that respect. then having a shedload of releases
I think also if you are gonna put out work, be in *ONE* group now 2-4 of em..
sorry to be grumpy.. I don't think I'm the only one who thinks that way. |

Whatever makes you upset, it is in you. Do not blame others for that or even try to tell them on how to behave. People live their creativity and have fun creating stuff in their sparetime. Be thankful for that crazy amount of demos and quality, it is a gift. |

Ah, there were years to plan and prepare all this stuff so no wonder on the quality. Not a chance if stared late.
Now I'm really interested in what's possible to do in a month? We'll hold Arok Party 2023 soon. Those looking for a real challenge are welcome to participate! |

Holding back and strategically timing the release of your best work for your beloved scene friends and audience is truly remarkable. It's undeniably awesome. However, the only issue lies in the self-centered approach of the C64 scene (in this particular case). While we are indeed self-reliant and self-sufficient, capable of throwing an unforgettable party for ourselves, one can only imagine the impact it would have if monumental jaw-dropping productions like Mojo, Wonderland XIV, and Next Level (just to name a few that deeply resonated with me while watching the stream) were intentionally unveiled at major (cough) demoscene events like Revision. |

there's a few good reasons for not releasing at "major" parties :-)
a) the demo was anything but finshed back then
b) competing with all kind of different plattforms in a combined compo is not my cup of tea
c) and most important: I am pretty sure that the X audience is capable best to judge and see what also is going on on the technical side in a demo. So i am conviinced, i target way more people who deeply value such a release than on a major party. |

For me it’s your B) point Bitbreaker that’s the main one. I would never put in the effort we did with Mojo for a party that isn’t purely C64 as it simply wouldn’t get the right attention. Sure, smaller audience, yes, but at least one that understands the effort that’s gone into the production. And for us it wasn’t any “holding back”, most of the demo was done in the five months leading up to X with a clear aim for that particular party. |

How exactly is X not the major party, and how is it preferred to release on modern pc party with an oldskool sidekick? *puzzled* |

I can imagine: it would not even get close to the impact these demos have at X and the c64 scene.
X *is* one of the two/three major parties in the entire scene. Only revision is bigger and it has no focus on the C64, there are zero C64-only compos and amount of c64-visitors is very low at revision compared to X.
also, this is the weirdest post party thread ever. |
