40 track disk PC -> C64 transfer

What are the options for transfering 40 track d64 images from PC to C64?
The D64-Writer plugin in my MMC64 didn't handle it.
Is the U1541 the only option?
Is there perhaps some old DOS transfer-prg that can handle it (StarCommander?). Then I need to dig out my old XE1541 cable and put together an old PC in anticipation of the EoD release...

I guess these are the facts indeed :-/

I am still hoping Graham will bugfix/finish Warpcopy (and TFR's 1581 loadingroutines) and adds 40 track support.

Starcommander can handle 40 tracks? I've been using MMC lately for transfering, it's great, but I do have a Starcommander-compatible cable here somewhere... But I can't plug it into my laptop, so in the future I have to visit a friend for copying that mysterious not-yet-downloadable-demo EoD everybody talks about :)

Yeah, just like opencbm/gui4cbm4win, which works from Windows just as well (no need to go DOS anymore). Remember, you need XM/XA1541 for that, XE won't work.

Parallel port on the 1541 and a Yap1541 cable which allows the use of NIBread by Peter Rittwage and Markus Brenner

Necrothread awake! I have been VERY successful with 40-track disks using iechost. Very stable and just works. Every time. Before that I had some, very random, success with EasyFlash 3 USB Utilities V1.93, as well with using zoomfloppy with 1571 in burst mode, but now I am in love with iechost.

Another option is just to use 6-PACK (tool by Alpha Flight) and just convert the 1!,2!,etc. files to C64 and then use 6-Pack on C64 to unpack :)

Yeah, IECHost works like a charm. Totally stable from what i did with it so far.

And you don't have a crashing C64 part in the middle. Pretty annoying that.
