Commodore 64 in the movies

While watching Police 'Academy 3: Back in Training' spotted that the control room is run using Commodore 64’s. At one point, a monitor goes haywire, and Paper Boy appears, although it appears to be Paper Boy the arcade game, opposed to Paper Boy the Commodore 64 conversion.

There is Turkish comedy movie called G.O.R.A (2004). In a scene, they use c64 to upload Kung-fu knowledge to the lead actor's brain (refering to the Matrix).

In the TV series "Friends", Jennifer Aniston is teasing "Ross Geller" with the fact that he was more interested in his C64 in his teens, when he should have been interested in her instead :D

TV series Futurama has several references for c64-isms..

Benders brain is a "6502", for instance.

There are several c64 references in the series, I just can't name them at this time, but you'll have fun watching the series (or movies) looking for them.

There was some site around which listed c64 appearances in.... was it movies, or was it music videos? Can't remember right now. Goto80 probably knows.

I remember the episode with "car werewolf", in an old castle was a wall portrait with a Bender's forefather Commodore LXIV.

@LHS - I think the other episode with the "6502" had something to do with an f-ray.. I think the episode is called "Fry and the slurm factory".
I do recall the episode with the werewolf, but can't place a name on it.

I'm a huge fan of Futurama. I've all the episodes and movies and always get a laugh when I watch any of them.

someone mentioned this topic a few months back on world of spectrum

I was gonna post a site, but seen it's already been mentioned..

it was more funny when they did fake OS screens etc.

or in the UK anyway.. furniture shops had fake plastic cbm monitors and TV's and c64's to show how furniture would look.. texas had them if I recall.

Nightmares and Dreamscapes featured a story of a brilliant brother that tried to fix the world. When he was young he got a C64. I think it may have shown him using it. I can't remember back to last month though.

Not actually a movie, but one of the classic Sesame Street episodes had Grover using a Commodore 64 (or it might have been a Vic 20), educating children about a computer. :) Can't remember what episode it was, but it would have been around 1982 or later.

Nice to see the use of C64 in movies and series.
Norwegian television program Lydverket showed SDI, and some bands using the editor. Glenn also features in the documentary. I was blown away when I saw this on TV 2008. My editor! LOL.

@Isildur: that is Apple II code as a matter of fact.

There's not only funny appearances of Commodore computers in films, but also pretty painful songs about them:

Found another C64 reference, this time in the series Criminal Minds Quantico, Season 3, Episode 14. Right around 16:30...

A conversation between Penelope and Kevin where she says "If you get within 100 feet of Agent Rossi, I will unleash an unrecoverable virus on your personal computer that will reduce your electronic world to a commodore 64 and a government block of cheese"

Season 2: Episode 11: round 10 minutes into the episode Angela is brought to a house with a black room to meet the chinese guy. There is a commodore 64, 1702 and 1541 disk drive in the center of the room.

* In Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency: Season 2: Episode 4: Around 11 minutes into the episode Ken is decrypting data from a 5,25 disk with a c64, 1702 monitor and a 1541 disk drive. Drive is not connected though. :)
