What?? Shit, that's quite sad news.
I only had the chance to speak to him at X'2010 a couple of times briefly... seemed a really nice guy in person. :(

Why the hell would he want to commit suicide for (if that's what it was), at such a young age? I mean yeah the world is shitty right now, but suicide isn't the answer, really!

Rest In Peace, Arman!

How sad.... 8( We all knew you had depression issues, but you were always upfront about it and I felt like you had it under control...
You were always a funny and positive guy whenever I met or talked to you. Slightly annoying at times, yes, which led you to think I didn't like you (which wasn't true like I told you), but you always had your heart in the right spot. You simply just spoke whatever was on your mind all the time! ;-)

Time for a ROFLdance to commemorate Arman's legacy!

very sad news, really.

I remeber him being a Level64 member for a short period of time, then left due to slow release rate in the group. I remeber once he asked me doing a demo based on Bilbe verses 1. Korinther 13, 4-7, then we never got to do it due to me not coding anything for it.

I always listen to his music, which was very original.

A bit crazy of a guy, but I will surely miss him.

RIP

Just got a message from Scout about this very sad news, so I rushed to here.

For a while Arman and I were close, discussing where to go with Gheymaid. We never met, untill X-2010.
I'm glad I had that chance to meet him in person!

He was one of my favourite musicians and he was a great guy to chat with.

My condoleances to his family and close friends.
I think it is safe to say that most of our scene is moved by this news.

May he now enjoy cigarettes, coffee and his other known joys forever!

Shit.. i didnt see this coming.

Arman would once in a while blow his money on weed/hash, and in those nights he wrote strange things to me on Skype, but we had fun with it, and he didnt really ever seem in any real danger to kill himself, he spoke about these things as a jokeing around.

I dont know what happened.. maybe one of his very high hyper states of mind, while under the influence, gave him irresistable crazy idea to end it all, or it was an accident.

I have his unreleased album "Lightdancer - Noob" on my disk..
its his best pc tunes, not the schranz stuff he has also made.
He wanted my reviews, and that i publish it and take care of publishing his music in the future, we were doing several things.

Fuck i just dont know what to say or think..
Maybe something changed.. in the last months, he wrote me less and less on skype.

I will remember him always, he and i have had so many good nights on skype, i can never thank him enough for all he has helped me with, personally.

Damn..

I'm speechless. We just went to x10 together with steppe and a friend and we slept in the same room at x10. I knew Arman a bit from personal meetings (he lived ca. 40km from my place) and he kept insisting that i come over for a visit again so he could cook a dinner and we could have some talk.

I never found the time to drive over to him and take up that invitation.

Now i feel deeply sadden that i havent visited him again while there was time.

This is unreal.

I will miss you my friend.

I'm still in shock and it will take a long time before it reaches me that Arman is not with us anymore.

We were a group mates for a quite long time, chatting on IRC and Skype from time to time. Discussing problems with which we face in life.

Around 2 years ago our paths got split. I left GMI, but we were still colleagues.

I've joined GMI on 13th of May 2007 and inspired by Arman I've immediately composed tune (first GMI release) called Cup of Coffee and Few Cigs .

Arman, you were a really good person with a BIG heart and unpredictable sense of humor!

I'll miss you very much mate. Rest in Peace !

Really, really sad to hear this, the times I'd spoken to him he seemed like a really nice guy and he was always really nice about my C64 stuff. For a while he had one of my C64 pics on his Myspace music page. He seemed happy that I'd let him use it, I was happy that he WANTED to use it! It's a real shame he's not around anymore.

Arman and me had a nice chat few years back via phone, so we kept in contact over the net writing nice small mails from time to time. Always wanted to talk to him again, but like it this.. you always tend to forget about it, do other things, are in hassle, stress and then it's too late. I feel like shit.

Today I intended to visit a friend in hospital but might cancel it cause of my own health reasons (I'm sleeping 12-15h a day the past 1-2 weeks for I dont know why), but I'll force myself to go although I'm terribly tired, you'll never know when it's too late.

I've known Arman in October, driving together to X2010. We spent a great weekend there, I'm glad I had the chance to meet such a good and funny person.

Good bye Arman!

DCMP brought me the sad news and i still cant understand that he is gone. For the past 5 years or so we've been from time to time chatting for hours at night, talking music and girls/relationships. He used to send me his unfinished or finished techno tracks because i would give him honest feedback. He used to tease me that i was so oldschool in my techno preferences, and i would tease him that he sounded so frankfurt trance, and it was always with alot of love. I really liked Arman, i really did. He surely had his heart in the right place, and i will miss him dearly even if i never actually met him in person, but thats how it is on the scene. You develop friendships with people you maybe havent met or will meet. Rest in peace my friend, you will be remember by us, your friends on the c64 scene. I will never forget you Arman. Hope you got plenty of cigs and coffee wherever you are now..

Still under shock here too.

I keep reading Armans name all over the place and somehow feel/wish like he'd pop up on irc and offer cigs & coffee.

And a constant "WHY" i cant get out of my head.

Went looking for him on google today and came across his ROFL dance and like fungus i felt like crying.

I think i'm just starting to realize how much we will miss him.

You stupid Mustard! What the fuck have you done now?

I can't believe this at all, I don't want to. If there is something more to this, can you please let me know?

Arman, you were such a good buddy on here, the definition of GHEY, dress and all. All those hours we spent talking shit, being stupid and tormenting lolita, are now all in the past. They shouldn't be. I had to laugh when I read Jucke mention that his tastes were too oldschool for him, he used to make light of the same thing with me.
You were a really credible musician with an awesome flow, your desire for the 64 scene kept me going for such a long time.. When I had no interest in working on anything and was ready to give up, you changed my mind. Even though your mind changed more than a woman's kalsong, it was always fun to have your take on how something would come about, the aura around it. You had a personality that would infect everybody, good or bad :) I'm sorry I didn't push harder to get Ambient Diaries out to the masses.

From what i've read this is the 3rd in a short time (Sobec from breakpoint, Jedi and Arman) and it's terrible to realise that this is happening 50 years before it should.

The worst part is, I was having my first cigarette and coffee for the morning, they will never be the same again, my whacky German and my Iron Shiek, you will be missed.

Haven't heard of this sad news before, this morning on the way to work I was thinking how splendid "Electric Jesus" is, and was actually singing to that reverberated part inside my head. I think that was my minute of respect to his soul, unknowingly about his passing away. Seeing this thread some minutes ago just made me realize that his music was not playing inside my head for no reason, but like a last greeting from him. R.I.P. Arman.

du einer....lieber Mensch mit soo groooossen Herz...dich zu verlieren macht mich tief traurig, und nicht zu wissen, was dich von uns allen so getrennt hat. :(

You were so fucking positive guy! I thought they are kidding, it's impossible you're not with us anymore. But you are with us, your crazy laugh, your crazy videos, music and the song which reminds me you all the time "shut up and sleep with me" :-)

I will remember you my whole life, GMI, and everything related with you and your crazy mind.

I do not want to be sad, but it is so hard...

I hope there is amazing atmosphere in heaven or wherever you are :-)

When someone leaves the c64 community forever, a great void is created. When that same individual passes out of existence, it is a tragedy for all who knew and loved him. I regret the passing of Intensity and wish strength and comfort to all the loved ones he left behind. I will continue to enjoy his music forever.

this is awful shocking terrible news, I was only really starting to get to know Arman these last few weeks.
In our last convo, we were joking about rude words in foreign languages, then we got into an in depth discussion about how the same word can mean the same thing in different tongues.
Why the heck must all the nice people get taken from us so soon. Believe you me I know exactly what it's like to live with depression.
it's a horrible beast to deal with. Just when you think you have it under control, it sneaks up behind you and knocks you to the floor and
kicks you when you're down, only then do you realise it's been playing dead and waiting for a chance to strike.
For anyone else on here suffering from this insidious disease, don't try and act tough and macho and pretend it will go away, because it won't. Medication is only part of the solution, talk therapy is also important, and you need to act quickly before the depression takes hold fully.
RIP Arman we will miss you, you are gone too soon!

Since what Ian said is a bit cryptic, here's what Impulse said straight from the logs:

<impulse> i assume the sickness started to break out and he wanted to calm down, took sedatives and got into a loop between panik and taking sedatives
<impulse> the police said that there were indications for panic outbreaks

So, if it was an accident, it definately makes it easier for his friends and family than if it were suicide. Sure, it doesn't change the fact that he's dead, but you can generally cope easier with accidents than with suicide, where you always ask yourself "what could I have done to prevent it? Or was I even partly the reason why he did it?"

Life and death are alwys so close in life. Of course death sucks because Arman is not here with us any more. I know he believed in Jesus and made experience of how He helped him through his sickness, Arman once wrote me about making a demo about Jesus.

But, as for now, even if I regret not doing such demo with him, I thank God that He gave us Arman. I mean, I feel sadness for him not being here anymore, happiness for the time he spent with us. Com'on guys, I bet he does not want us to be so sad, let's let him live in us with all the things he tought, let's bring to life the moments he spent with us.

I was really touched, when reading the GMI CSDb, about all the nice things he wrote to ex-GMI members, he really cared for each one of you! I want that spirit too, I want to care about people, just like you did Arman! This is what you left me: this caring spirit for who's close to me.

Thanks Arman! May you be happy where you are now.

I've had a phone call with Impulse before. Arman is currently being examined by the forensic medicine. Impulse will let us know the date of the funeral as soon as he knows more. I also asked if Nada's idea of forming a scene donation pot would be welcome by the parents (he's in touch with them), and he said that every small amount would be a relief. Not only have they lost their son, but they're also about to lose a significant amount of money - currently the cost for a funeral in Germany is minimum 2500 Euros, if you keep it really, really cheap. Double that if you want something a with a bit of dignity.

I'm hereby volunteering to gather the money for Arman's parents as I'm going to visit the funeral. I have no idea how to open up a donation account or stuff like that, it's probably the least hassle if we handle this privately via my bank account or Paypal. I think it's a nice idea if we could hand out an envelope with the money along with some condolences that every donator could send along. For those that have concerns about my trustworthiness (because you don't know me). I've got a wife, a kid and a steady job. I promise that the money will be given completely to his parents on the funeral, you have my word.
Ok, those who'd like to participate, PM or email me (steppe@demodungeon.com) and I hand you over my bank account info. Paypal is also an option, but consider they keep around 5% of the money for themselves, and I think noone but Arman's parents should profit from it. So, let me throw the first 20 Euros into the pot and let's hope there's more to follow from the scene, Arman's friends, fans and coffee and cigarettes consumers on IRC.
Think of it as buying Arman's music after an indefinite trial period or just showing your appreciation and respect for him to his parents.

PS: If anyone knows a better way to handle this, say it out loud and I'll humbly step back.

I quickly googled it: Individuals can't open a donation account, only institutions like the Red Cross or the Church, amongst others, can. What's left is a private bank account which usually causes some slight costs and doesn't really have any advantage over the current solution. 4 people have mailed me so far and will donate something, JFYI.

Dear “kid brother” Arman,

The last days have be surreal.. I have not even been able to shed any tears yet..
I so yearn to release this pain in my heart knowing that you are truly gone.. sigh..

Was it not my turn to pick up the phone and dial your number,
my turn to reply your last email,
my turn to plan a date to visit you?

I know the answer, but my body just breaths through these regrets..
Sadly my friend, we no longer have the chance to meet in person.

However, remembering an image of that great smile on your face, I can honestly say that I am proud to have known you, proud to have served with you in Gheymaid, and *grin* even proud to have told you in person that I love you like family!

Join the ranks of legends Arman and spread your wings, my angel of light!

if none has a better way to handle the donation than Steppe, I'd go for his proposal. Just one thing is missing in my opinion: a deadline, after which the envelope will be handled. Of course money could be sent afterwards, but if they are given all together I think it's nicer.

Yes, I thought about setting a deadline. But for the time being, there is none. Given the fact a funeral is announced a couple of days in advance it's still possible it's held the next weekend. Anyway, if you tell me the amount of money you sent and it's not on my bank account the day of the funeral, don't worry, I'll just pretend it is and of course hand out the full sum (even if the money hasn't arrived by then). You trust me here, so I will trust you as well.

Hi Guys,

in order to shorten up the discussion about donation bank accounts or not. We can simply use my bank account and I will make a list of everybody who donated and how much, withdraw the money from the bank account and give it to Armans parents.

I think it's the easiest way, what do you think about it?

Cheers

I didn't really get your question.

I'm hereby announcing a deadline:
If your message that you will donate (and how much) reaches me by sunday evening (30th of January), I will include it in the donation pot I will give to Arman parents, even if the money's not on my bank account.
So there's no excuse if you're still waiting for your January salary and your bank account is empty. ;-)

For everything after the funeral, I suggest you contact Impulse and negotiate details with him.

At the moment there are 16 people donating with a total amount of around 400 Euros. Seems I was a little optimistic when I set the fictous goal to 1000 Euros (like in: "1000 Euros would be a cool sum to hand out in an envelope!").
Thanks everyone for your participation!

Thanks everyone for your participation!

a bank account would help alot :)

where do i send the money??

Because banks don't control direct debits, I won't release my bank data publicly. Anyone can place a direct debit on a person he knows the account info of, at least here in Germany. It's odd, yeah.
But I sent you a PM, stash.

Paypal should be safe, so here it is: mail@webschmid.com

From Bitfellas:
The news of Arman's passing has generated waves of sadness all around the world, its clear from the outpouring of grief from all that knew him just how much this kind and generous person touched all those who came into contact with him over the years and we wanted to, in our own small way, create a tribute to Arman and his music here at BitFellas. When we remember Arman it will be with a smile as a very talented musician with a great sense of humour, who always gave us a bit of a lift if we were feeling down. Arman was also very kind and supportive to us at BitFellas over the years working on Jingles and Stingers for podcasts and giving us suggestions for mixes, poking fun at us when we needed it and just generally being a fantastic guy. We'll really miss him.
In memoriam - Arman / Intensity

I'm back from the funeral. It was a very sad and emotional day. What the donations are concerned, there were 27 people who donated a total of 790 Euros. This is amazing and I have to pass on a warmhearted and honest "thank you" from Arman's parents to everyone who contributed. Peace and love to you all!

No one should die alone at home.
Help for young people mostly comes to late.
Society don´t care about "not normal" people as they mostly
bring no profit at all.
Maybe this is one more reason to think over if the system of egoistic behavior and only thinking for own pleasure is right
at all.
Even when Arman was thick he brings joy and fun to people which even had their psychical pains.

Hope he is now blessed for the fun and joy he brings to others.
May his noble deeds be rewarded as he deserves.

This tragedy makes clear the fact that the C=64 Scene is a community. All of us are vital to the well being of the whole scene. We have lost a family member. We are important to each other. Cooperation is more important than competition.

I just found out about this. I'm sad. I had a many discussions with him about music and things back to 2000. He was so passionate about it. It scares me too. That line that exists. I also have depression and this makes it worse. He was a strong and dedicated scener that contributed well. I remember him, and will not forget his name; Arman Behdad. Say hello to Mr. Wax for me! It won't be that long before we all join you.

Shit. I've been out of the loop for a while and just learned about this. So very sad. I only knew Intensity through his music which always caught my attention.

Thanks for gracing us with your music and friendship. I hope you're in a better place.

From a C64.COM visitor:

"Hello there.

I've never met intensity, but one day while I was idling in #c-64, he took time out to chat to me. I didn't even say or do anything, and suddenly he says "Hi Stephen"

We must have chatted about anything and everything for over an hour. He didn't really seem like your stereotypical scener, loud, foul mouthed, self-centered and constantly angry at the world. He was quite happy to take time out from whatever he was doing to talk to a "n00b".

What a shocking thing to happen, we were only just beginning to get to know each other, and he would have made a great friend to talk to.

Horiffic to hear of his passing."

This is really a shock. I just learned it from the Journey to the Center of the Universe from Jan. Arman was one of my first contacts in the scene, when he was still S.U.C.K. and we had Computer Flohmarkt as the communication forum.

Arman, rest in piece.

I just learned about this today and I'm more than a little depressed now. Arman could get a little weird at times, but it was a good kind of weird and made him something special. I will miss him. :-(

I also have a couple versions of "Sweet", both of which are unreleased as far as I can tell.

Finally, I paid my long "due" to Intensity:

http://www.remix64.com/track/necropolo/electric_jesus/

I started this remix back in his lifetime and wanted to say thanks to him with this one as he became one of my fav post-'94 SID composers. I was off-SID in the following 15 years, missing so many good things. The remix was finished this summer, shortly before ÁROK 2012, and released there.
