1571 dead/parts
Hello,
There doesn't appear to be a hardware section on csdb so move it if it doesn't belong in this section but somewhere else.
Anyway...
A while ago (2 years?) I had an automatic fuse from my room that turned off due to a shortcut.
Apparently it was caused inside my 1571.
The red wax-like stuff that's in the socket where you connect the power cable was melted away together with some of the plastic under it that's around the 2 serial cable connectors.
Yesterday I tried to connect it to a PC ATX powersupply but not much appeared to happen although I meassured 5 & 12V on the 4 pin floppy connector after I bridged pinhile 13 (black/gnd) & 14 (green/poweron).
Once I connect the CN1 connector with all other connectors to the mech unplugged the PSU fan won't turn and I hear some humming sound so I guess the main pcb is having issues and is generating some short circuit somewhere.
It's not clear that the mech is damaged aswell.
So I wondered if this can be fixed or if anyone is interested in the pieces for spare parts?
(I could bring it with me if I make it to X)
Otherwise it will end up in the bin :/
Edit:
The 1571 psu itself is useless, it broke in half decades ago and was "fixed" by bridging the broken "lanes" with some wires. |
