Connecting C64 drive to Win/Linux
I was wondering if there's anything out there for connecting the old C64 disk drive to a modern PC these days? I remember a schematic for creating a cable for the parallel port, but PCs don't have them any more.
Thanks |

How about just googling "1541 usb"? The ZoomFloppy might be a good option. |

Thanks.
That search also brought up this, which I have a spare Teensy, so might be a better option! |

I don't really know anything about it, but perhaps relevant?

Zoomfloppy is great, and can do nibbling with an unmodded 1571. |

Thanks. I'll try building my Teensy interface and if I have any problems, I'll look at the ZoomFloppy |

There's a bunch of alternative solutions (even via USB) but ZF is best imho, so if you've got an unused Teensy anyway, use that one.
You shouldn't face bigger problems. In fact, quite a bunch of people from Europe who shun shipping from US or just wanted to save money, built a Teensy device as a "Cheap-O-ZoomFloppy".

Yeah, been looking into that Teensy stuff (The US->EU shipment has put me off the ZoomFloppy a bit too), but they keep talking about Teensy 2, and I have Teensy 3.1.
Hopefully my DIN socket will arrive today, and I can over the weekend try and put this together.
My Chameleon64 should also be arriving today, which I'm looking forward to playing with too |
