Vice Sound Error
Has anyone had a problem with a:
Sound Buffer Overflow (Cycle-Based)
error in Vice 2.2?
If so, what causes it and how do you stop it from occurring again? I'm tired of going back to the menu to reactivate sound playback.

Please use a more recent vice version e.g. from http://vice.pokefinder.org or http://vice.c64.org
2.2 - not even Didi uses that anymore.
Whenever you run into problems on the 2.4 branch they will eventually even get fixed when reported :)

Warnock. I believe the issue was caused due to other applications using sound. Makes sense because that's the only time vice 2.2 gave me problems.
My work around, before 2.4 (which I haven't installed). I simply made sure vice wasn't playing music when I loaded another app that did. Once the other app is doing it's thing, I can resume normal use of winvice.
Might be best to get the 2.4 version ;) |

Vice 2.4 is prone to stuttering audio
and recording FFMPEG video, the audio is behind the video, out of sync.
please fix! |

ok done.
and now i repeat my idea: ffmpeg is in some version working very fine, and there is no reason to update it. because then you get bugs.
why not take a working ffmpeg and bundle it with VICE ?
when you ride the update wave at all times, things go out of sync, and weird stuff happens.
if you have something that works 100%, then stay with this. |

There is your idea and there is development reality - usually leading to VICE being compiled against _recent_ libraries. Here Linux clearly makes the pace then.
Finally whenever FFMPEG is involved just pray to your favourite software god to make the mystery work at least halfway. |

there is also the thing with it working fine UNLESS using windows. finding a maintainer for the windows gui might be a good starting point :) |
