Found out why this crashes. There are two reasons:
1. It destroys $2d/$2e in the autostart process. (It works if autostarted from within CCS Mon)
2. It assumes that you have CCS Mon present and calls its entry point at $9400 when done.

After crunching completes you would typically check $2d/$2e from the monitor and save.

Uploading seems broken at the moment. Will fix when it's up again.

This is a bit packer (~modified huffman).
Around this time the way to go was: char-pack -> sequence-pack -> bit-pack.
Three different packers!

CCS Maxshort is an equal sequence packer.

EDIT: ok, uploaded!

This is how it should work:
1. load program to pack into memory (with LOAD).
2. load bittos (,8,1) which will then autostart and pack.
3. save packed program to disk (with SAVE).

The different versions of this program that I have bomb in VICE. Maybe this is an incompatibility with VICE?
