Or try SAMdisk instead? (http://simonowen.com/samdisk/) It works on W2K or later, including 64-bit versions.
1581Disk was a quick change to the sample program for my fdrawcmd.sys driver, to show it could be done. It wasn't really meant to be an official utility, so errors cause it to stop :) | User Comment Submitted by TNT on 11 October 2009 User Comment Submitted by ΛΛdZ on 11 October 2009
I have some experiences to share:
1) It does not continue dumping if the
floppy has cyclic-errors.
(http://d81.de/ does)
2) Both 1581DiskUtillity and D81.de
does not read all 1581 floppies.
They both state: "Unknown format/
CBM incompatible disk...",
even the floppy works fine on my 1581 drive..
(D81.de read a few more of my floppies
than 1581diskutil. does)
Does there exist other tools that works
better for dumping 1581 floppies ?
[edit]: Good old Star Commander does the trick :)
- even it takes 20times more time :/ | User Comment Submitted by Sledge on 8 February 2008
Is there a similair program for FD-2000? I can create d2m images in 64COPY, and then write em to a disk with IDE64-plugin d2m, but it would be nice to be able to do that directly from the PC, instead of doing it from the IDE64. | User Comment Submitted by MagerValp on 14 September 2006
Yes, this one works like a charm in WinXP. | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 14 September 2006
"Any chance of a linux version?"
uhm, since 1581 is mfm (just like a pc disk)... wouldnt a simple cat /dev/fd0 > image.d81 do the trick? | User Comment Submitted by Twoflower on 14 September 2006
Haven't checked this out, but WoMo's excellent 1581 copy has always worked like a dream for me. This might be more compatible with XP, though? I'm still holding my breath for a MMC-plugin utilizing the track-write function of the 1581. | User Comment Submitted by Skate on 14 September 2006
Very useful tool. I wish I had a 1581 but I'm sure I can find one. | User Comment Submitted by Style on 14 September 2006
