This one might have been an inspiration: Bop'n Rumble +2F

Also contains a broken FLD routine which "accidently" does linecrunching which is quite similar to VSP.

I had forgotten all about gallery 2 till i loaded this today :)
thinking about it, there would not have been anything new to actually put in it!

From what I remember it was a bugged FLD routine that started to make the screen move around and when I realised that might actually be controllable I started trying to stabalise it then found out that 1 cycle would move the screen 1 character.

Gallery 2 never got released, I think VSP&IK+ was the last thing I did on C64 as I'd moved on to game coding and didn't have time to do much else.

JCB, 2 more questions if you don't mind

- Do you remember the process of finding out the VSP trick? Was it totally by coincidence or something more conscious thing.

- Was the referred in scrolltext "Gallery two MT" demo ever released (can't find here)?

1) Not sure, I don't have my C64 any longer :( (Ste has his and he's going to check the chip number) I have a feeling it was an "old luma" chip though as colour bars etc look more correct in VICE like that..

Never had any negative feedback about it from Compunet or any people we were in contact with. Maybe it was on later chips the problems started as I doubt Mayhem in Monsterland would've got the green light if it was a widely known bug?

2) It was probably a simple attempt at a bit of obfuscation ;) Can't really think of any other reason (my memory is too bad to remember any actual reason). We did used to suffer from our code appearing in multiple demos a week or so after we uploaded anything, probably because I used to code in a monitor so routines were all nicely spread about in RAM :)

A couple of questions I want to ask JCB regarding this classic:
1.) What VIC version was your C64 at the time of writing this? Since there are some models that don't support VSP, would be interesting to know and the feedback you got from Compunet due to different VIC revisions at the time.
2.) Any particular reason for using registers $D300-$D32E than the usual $D000-$D02E? :) ... or just sheer coincidence?
