Trap wrote "damn us for delaying stuff, but the dxycp was a new record in our shelf for a long time until Raistlin made the christmas demo one - yeah, it doesn't count anymore :)"

Actually, after reading Raistlins blog about DXYCPs we still come out on top with 256 chars against his 232 chars. But we lose using 2 frames against his 3 frames...

Well, it was fun anyways ;)

I like it! It's fresh, nice effects and transitions! There were some effects that I literally had to immediately check how they were done - namely the double DYPP :) Nice!!

Have been watching this demo a few times over Xmas break. The music got stuck in my head.
I really want to watch this as out-of-compo on a big screen at X’2022 to hear the crowd screaming “noooo” and “maybe”. Love you guys. Please don’t stop.

I've been circling Bob's comment for some time now. I am deeply honored by your comments. We all are. Thank you so much. However, I feel the urge to correct you or at least comment on your comment :) Yes, this demo has a lot of transitions, but saying that it has few fx parts? .. The letter overlay scroller, The double DYPP, the tunnel, the transparency text (before shaggy stallions), the kefrens (erhm Alcatraz?) bars with background, the 5 sprite VU meter with background, the hires upscroller with colors and, damn us for delaying stuff, but the dxycp was a new record in our shelf for a long time until Raistlin made the christmas demo one - yeah, it doesn't count anymore :) ... to my knowledge all of this is or was world beating records? Also there are some "technically challenging" graphics, like hires multicolor stuff that shouldn't really be possible when you start looking at what is happening, the bromance logo, the remember why we do this and X marks the spot. Overlays, underlays, tricky layouts etc. There is not a single part in this demo that is easy. Maybe I missed some demos where other people did these things, but calling this a demo with few fx parts is made me sad because truly it is not - We just wanted this to be a demo you could watch over and over and keep finding new details. Making things look easy is really difficult. Yeah, call me a cry baby or whatever, but take another look and take the time to notice all the details - there are many ;) Thank you again for the wonderful comment (and to everybody else) We love you guys, now go make that fucking unbeatable demo - I know you have it ready for X ;)

A demo where transitions have higher presidence then fx, however we have seen some of the fx a couple of times by now :) interesting to see that Mixeri ;) doesn’t react on that as he reacted on some previous demos :)
its very nice to watch, amazing demo but ..
to few fx parts , even though some of the transitions could be very well considered as effects.. unfortunatelly transitions takes over the demo and I can understand how everybody loves it since its very visual and blends in well with the parts, transitions makes it very unified no doubt about that, texts gives more meaning to it and humor, more entertaining, but I feel most of the effort on the demo went on the transitions rather then the parts it self.. The Fx parts in the demo are awesome.. and thanx for the References ;) Starwars lack of bromance :) and Censor bars ;) Art work is out of this world, blody amazing the style choice of colors etc.. The music and timeing is superb. Code transition to perfection.. (HCL you need to watch out, they are soon taking the lead of masters of transitions :)
FX parts code wise reaching new wierd and unknown levels. I want more!! so after all that I can’t deny its a master piece 10/10 well done you shaggy stalions ;)
PS I want more!!

@stinsen: DRAX has been banned from making end screen tracks, because we had complaints that people were unable to stop sobbing after hearing them. Instead you will have to settle for me covering The Carpenters entire discography, one track at a time. :D

What a show. <3 <3

Transitions are mind blowing throughout, so tightly synched with the music.

Great graphics, effects and ofc soundtrack.

Personal nitpick, I would have loved a new original end tune from DRAX, but that's only a minor comment. ;)

@Carrion - all the women here now wants to know, when the shaggy stallions are on tour and in which cities? And also if it's true, that they plan a common-tour with "Hairy Popper" in 2022? *lol* ;-)

Beautiful surprise gift from the bros. Code smooth as peanut butter. Lovely pixels. Ear honey. Pure love. Thank you guys.

Almost guessed who composed what, the trickiest one was the co-op tune and the finale (sounded so christmassy and Draxy). The entire soundtrack smells soooo Cresty.

@soci: I thought that too, but you missed the sprites! ;-)

And now who's next to extend the "kefrens over no-badline bitmap" into top/bottom borders?

Another example for the fact that c64 demos have grown *far* beyond just some technical exploitation. This artwork here combines the technical possibilites only a few are capable of handling with a deeply thought-through direction of art and presentation. This is the new bar for demos to come, I'd say!

In the end-part, I somehow thought it should say "more than just one bro'" - but ok, no need to overdo it ;)

Everything in this is perfect. EVERYTHING. Insane code, insane graphics, insane musics, insane concept, insane design, insane execution. And just the right amount of funny sprinkled on top, so that shit doesn't get too serious. This is something I will show to my non-C64 friends who want to see what demoscene is all about.

@Soci: Yes, you are correct. Actually, the idea of using on-the-fly generated dummy code to do a big hires scroller is amazing :)

Unfortunately, adding and writing to a sprite layer means that my version only updates every 4th frame whereas yours updates every 3rd frame :)

The end scroller is essentially the same as what I did back then here:
Arok 20 Invitation

Otherwise clever choice of colours and for sure it was a good idea to use background sprites to colour the text.

This demo has so much style that it is ridiculous. This looks and sounds like what a demo should look and sound like, when the artists all have more than 30 years of experience on a platform. Top quality work, huge respects.
