Extremely clever stuff, one of the best sound tracks as of late and I particularly like the texts.
"We don't do it because it's hard, but because it's impossible" is such a nice twist to the famous quote. And being this kind of ghost for someone.. is big. Congratulations.

the final picture was slightly glitched in the demo (due to a miss in the code, not due to the graphics itself) so here is a fixed version: PCB Ghost (fixed)

innovative code that i (unsurprisingly) don't understand.
absolutely face-smacking graphics, three pixel-masters and a coherent style - a lot of communication must have taken place.
music has this MASSIVE drums, one can't resist dancing (while watching, hm).
all in all another great achievement.

Wow. What a demo. Makes it feel like the c64 never had any borders. Mad coding skills. Fresh ideas. U go Trident!

Watched this again today, and love it!
Also, the audio is really something. Is it a cover in anyway, as a small part of the tune reminds me of a song i cannot place for the moment :)

Excellent demonstration of what can be done with ghostbytes. Kudos to Trident for following through with the concept! He has already shown a plethora of use cases, and I'm sure that this demo stirs a lot of coders to come up with even more.

I took my time writing this as I wanted time to properly debug this just to be sure that I was guessing right about how various bits were done (we all tell ourselves that we know the VIC .. but sometimes demos come along that make us think "but is there more..?"). And, yeah, this demo takes things that we've seen in OnlySprites entries (and others) and just does them much more cleanly - so clean that we question whether they really can be "just clever ghostbyte use".

Great demo, really nice use of ghostbyte - the part with multiple scrollers being especially nice. I know it's "just" a matter of getting the black bits into the right order to create the appearance of a hi-res font but, wow, great work there - truly showing Redcrab's pixelling skills under tight "hardware rules".

The music, graphics and code really come together to make a very cool and polished demo.

Hope you FLT guys will save up some steam to make a big multi-disk demo for X. Trident is absolutely on fire - reminds me of how we were in the late 80s, rapidly release one demo after another (but these Trident demos are of course much better than those 80s demos).

Congrats, team!

@redcrab: Thanks for digging up those ghostbyte ideas. So awesome to see we can still find fields that are not completely researched.

After Tridents excellent talk about ghostbytes last Fjälldata, I couldn’t resist trying to make a font. That one ended up in the Next Level demo together with Mahoney. While doing that I realised there’s quite some potential in this and designed more fonts and some other “impossible” ghosbyte stuff. I asked Trident if he was up for making a whole demo based on ghosbytes and he immediately started to make more incredible effects and routines. :) We have had so much fun doing this and I bet this won’t be the last coop from us in this field. Big thanks to the Sarge and Pal for helping out wrapping this up the last weeks.

Incredible demo! I can imagine sitting in that room watching – must have been sensational. There were some true ”scene moments” that could be felt all the way through the stream, like the Panoramic connection. Spooky, just how good it was.

Magic really happened yesterday night at Fjälldata while this was running on the big screen!! There were many other great releases there also, but this one brought a tilt to the time-space-continuum that i haven't experienced in a looong time! Still after looking at it on emu without video filters, this shouldn't be possible.

When I saw this demo on stream yesterday for quite many effects I had just one thing in my mind "that is indeed impossible", that hires on borders crossing all possible boundaries was really something special. Congrats. I know that these are ghost byte tricks and I understand how this might work, but nevertheless it is really mind blowing crafting.

Oh get absolutely fucked, you can't do any of that! Well ok, maybe half of those things. The rest are definitely impossible.

Beautifully done, well designed, and excellent tune and imagery. Five stars.

Crazy cool effects and I sure have a sweet spot for oldskool references (Panoramic screen)..
Great job by everyone involved, but especially Trident seems to be unstoppable atm.
