Word 'minimalism' reminds me of Steve Reich...in other sense...

Enjoyable, reminds me of a "game over" score.

Well, I got something similar through the votes TWO times -- I think that tells you you created something unusual :) definitely a good thing! Listening to the tune right now, I'm quite unsure whether I like it or not. The snare always on the 3 in a slow tempo gets a little on my nerves -- but of course, following the "looping minimal music" concept, you don't have many options here. The mirrored diatonic progression (up or down in different patterns) creates some nice and gentle dissonances :) Definitely a concept one should experiment a little more with. I like minimal music and looping different-length pattern lists somehow takes it to its purest max. Refer here for a superb example of minimal music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8hj36ysKbE (of course, no strict looping here, but a lot of repetitions).
Little nitpicking: why does your "bass" in the text have a gender? :D
tldr: good work! Very interesting study.

Groepaz: didn't find anything on google via "layman piano" search. What I used here is not that strictly limited:
As I stated on the screen, I use open chords on the slow main arps. Extended powerchords (quint + octave + open E and H string all the time). Therefore bass can and does play every note of the diatonic E-major scale (as opposite to how I understood this layman technique most of the time notes that are within whole or half tone range - like a slowed down bass run).
Arps & bass together "mimic" at least four of the six standard chords within the scale (base, base minor parallel, base+7, base+7 minor parallel). I guess melody could even be a whole lot more complex than I did and it would still be harmonic.
Also more variety could be achieved with some rythmic changes in bass & drums.

But of course, I think whatever you do within this concept it just has to wear off after a short time. onebitman told me he works with synced arps, but even in that case: the listener will soon get the feeling of interation because it *is* just iteration :-)

This is the best you've ever written! It's very melodic and that's right up my alley! :)

this very much reminds me of "layman piano" (which is similar to pentatonic, it follows two simple rules: a) only use black keys b) never use two keys that are next to each other) which allows even people with no musical knowledge to produce more or less melodic tunes.

it wears off very quickly though =)

Mh, I thought we shall not (ab-)use release title for tags :-)
So note to mods: [2SID] wasn't added by me in title. Don't spank me for this!

Huh!? Some comments made me wonder if everyone got that this is Stereo and to be listened with 2nd SID (you should indicate this by [STEREO] or whatever tag in title, Spidie. Of course it sounds terrible without 2nd SID.

But with all the settings right, I think this is quite agreeable/what jb sez

shine: *lol* I'd say: whether you *are* "nothing" or "no nothing" or "something" or maybe even "everything" is more a philosophical question =)
I don't know in what way your statement is related to this release though ;-)

@shine: your comment on Canon457II by onebitman already shows that you actually don't seem to have any idea what this is all about. So my 5 cents: this is about trying out stuff, spreading this idea, etc... Not very interesting to me who enters which number into csdb voteform - as always btw. :-)
Don't get me wrong. It's a okay for me if someone comments "like", "don't like", "mediocre/don't care". It's just that my interest in those categories is only incidental.

I mean "terrible" is like a 1 vote. I guess it DON'T deserve a 1. I like some elements so i give you a average 5. :)

oh, and just in case: this is a 2-SID tune! Playing it on a single SID will fuck it up more than I could ever fuck up a tune by hand (at least I hope so) ;-)

Are you sure you posted on the right entry. I totally agree with that on Study #1, but thought this one would be a little more nice.
Anyways: just two quick experiments done this morning, so no wonder if it didn't turn out very well. No need to say "sorry" =)
