Probably because it doesn't crash if you say yes to all trainers.
Doesn't look like data corruption to me, more like a simple coding error (JMP to wrong page, e.g. jmp $c135 at $c043, which should be jmp $c035). Issuing the following pokes before running seems to fix the issue:

no one reported cause it works fine...

tested with vice 3.4 with tfr and without cartridge attached.

Crashes in a strange way: On the trainer screen, after responding to the first cheat with Y/N, it fucks up.
This CSDb entry was created 10+ years ago and has 500+ downloads.
Hard to believe noone reported it to be faulty - but not impossible.
