As no major improvement surfaced yet I'm gonna give two hints about my implementation: Stride, and Peter Elias.

I'm guessing there is still room for improvement of the data stream size.

Can you do it without making the depacker eat up the yield? ;)

440 bytes for the datastream is already tight. and i cant come up with a way to shorten the code anymore without cheating...

anyone up for a lfsr approach?

@enthusi: Down to 557 with similar optimizations. To do anything major the encoding of the data stream needs to be addressed.

@tlr: squeezed 3 bytes out of it. Two might be considered cheating though...

The data stream only has 3.52 bits per character so that won't fix it.
(4.488 bits per char if we include the depacking code)

EDIT: corrected the numbers.

Just cut the two leftmost charrows, nobody will notice. ;-)
