That's by design, it's not a bug, and that's been left as-is. Play the game through to 100% completion, and you'll get all three passphrases (although what they are supposed to mean is a mystery to me!) Easily the most buggy game to ever be commercially released on the 64 - it finally gets a jewel version with all the game-breaking bugs fixed... even the dungeon 3 "secret" which the Speccy and Amstrad versions had but the C64 conversion forgot about.
