PRG and load address:
if you have load address, and sum, and size, you can check these, and two file is totaly same, if these are equal,
but now, if you found files with same size, and checksum, but different load address, you can follow the evolution of that part of program. (maybe a charset, which is included in some program)

MD5/SHA1:
yes, it is better, because, they cant be cheated (except md5, which is not enough strong algorithm anymore) with changing bytes in a pairs, but normaly the summ should be enough. (you can extract files from images when they are equal, and continue the comparing them with other tool, f.e. Total Commander)
the main purpose of this software, to check files in different images fast enough.

But feel free, to include md5 algorithm, and release an updated version. :)

You should only change the summs, to read into a buffer and then call the md5 unit in FreePascal.

I would also recommend including the PRG load address in the checksum, as a file that loads to a different address should be marked as different.

there is plenty of md5/sha libs out there,
add it... would be cool.

you should better wait for an md5/sha1 (best would be all of these 'checksums') version :)

This a Win32 command line application, with source.

This application gets an image file (d64, t64, prg) and calculates on it a CRC (a simle checksum).

With this it is possible, to check if you have the same program on two images, because, in the output you can see the load adress, the checksum, etc.

On prg, simply cuts the first 2 bytes, then sums the others.

On t64, it is walking through the file, and outputs the founded file infos.

On d64, it checks the dir for valid files, and walks trough the file chain, to calculate the checksums.

It has nice CSV output to, so it is possible to generate a CSV import int oa database, and with some queries, search for duplicates.

Feel free to use, feel free to upgrade, modify, etc...
